George A. Romero has begun production on his latest zombie movie, reports Variety.

The film, which has the working title Island Of The Dead, focuses on the inhabitants of a remote island off the North American coast who find their family members rising from the dead to eat their relatives.

Romero began shooting the movie, which he also wrote, in Ontario, Canada this week.

Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe, Devon Bostick, Richard Fitzpatrick, Stefano Colacitti and Athena Karkanis are among the cast.

The film is not thought to be a sequel to Romero's 2007 offering Diary Of The Dead

i think diary was better than land. I also watched land again earlier this year and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as i original thought. Not great, but not bad.

land felt more "sell out" and diary felt more "back to roots"

It could only feel "back to roots" because of Land feeling like "sell out".

Land made me want to poo from the tedium.

Enjoyed (most of) Diary a lot.

to me, land was just really experimental.

He explored the concepts of people who just die from natural causes turning, underwater zombies, intelligent zombies, a world accustomed to zombies.

Just a whole lot of stuff that no one was sure how the audience was going to react.

I think he did not disappoint in the creative gore department. And in the end, isn't that what we all want?
