First up, I'm not talking new age hippy shit, but more of a sort of something to put on when you've finished work.
I just had one of those days where everything under the sun goes wrong, and looking through my ipod, there wasn't much. A bit of classical but its more leaning towards the epic or the pompous and that's just not suitable, neither is classic rock or metal.
So any recommendations?

Have you tried hardcore? Most is crap but some tracks/mixes are pretty good for relaxing. Or something like Darude/Zombie Nation.. Chemical Brothers.

I play reggae for relaxation, or Latin. And this is no joke.

I listen to some Isley Brothers. Them cats were the masters of mood music. If a bitch can't get wet the IB's, she gets kicked out the clubhouse. I'll also throw on some Miles Davis, Grover Washington, or some Coltrane when I get home from work.

Hmm, not really the recommendations I was expecting Like Sabbath and Pantera? Zepp and Rolling Stones, as excellent as they are were loud when they wanted to be, and led zep has leaning towards the 'epic'. I wouldn't call Moby Dick relaxing for example, nor Dazed and Confused, etc. I was thinking more of philip glass (maybe scaled down) or Tangerine Dream, rather than Slayer Slayer's recommendation of reggae I get but not really a reggae fan.

I'll second the Morphine recommendation and add in Morcheeba as another option. Very sedate...

Stupid Amazon! Or I guess Amazon resellers. Some genius thinks since he's got the only listing that he can charge an outrageous price for it. After a while someone else puts the same thing up but undercuts them by 30 cents and the downward spiral begins. Whenever I see that situation I head right over to ebay or overstock and find whatever I'm looking for at a much more reasonable price. At least that particular listing has them used for around $8. Gah!
