??MGM'S AUGUST HORRORS http://www.davisdvd.com/News/bg_1.htm (can be found in archieves later)
?
August is horror month over at MGM. Here are all the details: Leading the pack is The Howling: Special Edition. The disc will feature a new 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1mix; an audio commentary with director Joe Dante and actors Robert Picardo, Dee Wallace-Stone and the late Christopher Stone (the commentary track is taken from Image's special edition laserdisc); a 48-minute documentary; deleted scenes and outtakes; and trailer. Boris Karloff fans can look forward to The Ghoul: 70th Anniversary Restored Edition. MGM has digitally restored this classic using original 35mm film elements held by the British Film Institute. Other horror titles include the haunted house chiller Burnt Offerings (audio commentary with Director Dan Curtis, Screenwriter William F. Nolan and star Karen Black), Clownhouse, I, Madman, the Jim Carrey vampire comedy Once Bitten, Raw Meat (original uncut British version, aka Death Line), and Squirm (original uncut version, commentary with director Jeff Lieberman).

New "Midnite Movies" double feature discs will include Comedy of Terrors/The Raven (Comedy of Terrors: 16x9, interview with screenwriter Richard Matheson; The Raven: 16x9, interviews with director Roger Corman and screenwriter Richard Matheson; rare promotional record featuring the voices of Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre and Paul Frees); Countess Dracula/The Vampire Lovers (Countess Dracula: 1.66:1 letterbox, uncensored British cut, commentary with director Peter Sasdy, screenwriter Jeremy Paul and star Ingrid Pitt; The Vampire Lovers:16x9; commentary track with director Roy Ward Baker, screenwriter Tudor Gates and star Ingrid Pitt; excerpts from "Carmilla" read by Ingrid Pitt, accompanied by stills gallery); The Haunted Palace/Tower of London (Haunted Palace: 16x9, interview with director Roger Corman; Tower of London: 1.66:1 letterbox, interview with producer Gene Corman); The Tomb of Ligeia/An Evening of Edgar Allen Poe (Ligeia: 16x9, audio commentary with director Roger Corman, a second audio commentary with star Elizabeth Shepherd and film historian David Del Valle; Poe: 1.33:1 fullscreen). Horror double features releases include Ghoulies/Ghoulies 2, Poltergeist II/Poltergiest III, and Troll/Troll 2.?

All titles will feature new 16x9 transfers (unless noted), theatrical trailers, and any other extras mentioned for each. All are due on August 26th and retail $14.95.

(Just wanted to shot out this to everyone) =)
GREAT! DVD releases coming this year. Having hard time to wait till autumn allready. Just so many of my 'favourites' what I've been after so long. Like both Poltergeist sequels, Countess Dracula, The Vampire Lovers (YEAH!) and maybe my favourite of Corman's Poe movies; The Tomb of Ligeia.

Anyone know any other of the old 'classics' that are going to be released on DVD this year? (The Fearless Vampire Killers... maybe?)
