For those with XBOX 360's there's a demo available to download from XBL Marketplace. Played it last night and from what little there was in the demo, it's fucking great.

I was in a shopping centre with about 500 zombies, all lumbering around and I could interact with lots of things in the environment, such as breaking shop windows and taking items from the shelves. Changed my shoes to a pair of trainers in a sports store, but I didn't seem to run any faster.

Some zombies (such as security guards) carry weapons, so when you kill them you can use the weapon yourself. You can even pick up body parts and either use them as weapons or throw them as a distraction to the undead. If the final version has all this, plus a tactical/story driven purpose, it'll be something else. :D

EDIT: http://sharpfish.realityfakers.com/ review of the demo.

Be brutally honest :

Does it get repetitive ?
I remember a game called "state of emergency", it was pure acid..... for 30 mins....
I traded it in the next day....

If it's just whacking zombies, it's gonna get old really fast. The developers will have you believe that the full game will be story driven and you'll be able to interact with other survivors and decide who to help, who to leave behind etc.

The demo looks great. Totally amazing, given the numer of zombies onscreen at any time. But the game absolutely must offer more than just killing the undead (which in itself isn't too difficult when they're spread out) otherwise it will suck royally after the first 24 hours.

There's loads more too it, even the demo is great fun.

The variety of weapons (and their comedic effects) is superb, REALLY looking forward to pirating this one ;)
