A fantastical journey through hell which has been scored by Tangerine Dream bringing this silent film into the modern world, resulting in an extraordinary and powerful synthesis of old and new.

L'Inferno (1911), the first Italian feature film ever made, is a fantastical journey into the imagination of Dante as we travel through hell encountering angels, demons and Lucifer himself. Lovingly produced over three years using incredible special effects and set designs this cinematic masterpiece has been lost in film archives for nearly 100 years. This new release is scored by Europe's top film composers Tangerine Dream and brings this silent film into the modern age in an extraordinary and powerful synthesis of old and new.

The Italian epic came of age with Giuseppe de Liguoro's imaginative version of the Inferno, loosely adapted from Dante and inspired by the illustrations of the 19th century artist Gustav Dor?. The film took over three years to make involving more than 150 people and was the first full length Italian feature film ever made. L'Inferno was first screened in Naples in the Teatro Mercadante 10th March 1911. It's success was not confined to Italy, it was an international hit taking more than $2 million in the United States alone today's equivalent of a major blockbuster.

The music is composed and performed by Tangerine Dream who show once again why they are considered one of the worlds top film composers as well as top recording artists. Composed and performed by Edgar Froese and Jerome Froese their music gives a voice to this silent epic.

This was seeded some time ago @DV by someone whose name I can't recall. I did not download it at that time
because the rip was amazingly oversized at 1.4G (!!). Now I've got a copy of it thanks to Fitz, so I've reencoded it
to a reasonable bitrate and now here it is. It's from DVD, but the ripper was clearly inexperienced.
