One of the most impressive Hong Kong independent productions of 2003, Fubo is a drama that handles the subject of crime and punishment in atypical manner. Because its chief set is a mortuary, the film reverberates with moral-existentialist questions. The story takes place in Macao and turns around three or four chief characters: a mortuary assistant and his helper, a world-weary triad assassin whose conscience is bothering him, and a prison cook who prepares last meals for death row inmates. Though their lives are separate, their fate is inextricably linked together by the common chain of death. The film is rich in atmosphere underscoring the motif of existentialism and death, but though it plays on a downbeat tone, the narrative pulsates with psycho-dramatic beats. The characterisations are expertly moulded by a cast made up of some of the best character actors in the Hong Kong cinema.

The characters in Fu Bo witness the borderline between life and death everyday. The life of Uncle Fu, a coroner estranged from his wife and son, is more closely related to the dead than the living. Tragically enough, Uncle Fu encounters his son only when he examines him as a corpse. The film also features a Portuguese chef who cooks for killers and death-row prisoners. The first-time co-directors observe the lives of diverse characters from a unique perspective on death, suggesting that life and death are inseparable. The most impressive scene is where Uncle Fu and his colleagues have a birthday party for a dead child in the autopsy room. Practically living with the dead people, they consider the corpses as their family. The film leads us to reflect upon the value of human beings and death through the unusual landscape of an autopsy room.

Subs = theres a couple of sources on mule but all low sourced and so far only sub format, theyre also on kloofys so I'd suggest getting them from the site. Also of note is WRD's subs tend to get updated alot so if theres problems early on with subs dont despair as more often than not they get redone.
