Young Andy Barclay sees a commercial for a 'Good Guy' doll on TV, and asks his mother for one for his birthday. At work, Andy's mom and her friend discover a peddler selling one for a low price, and she buys it. What she doesn't know is that the particular doll contains the spirit of Charles Lee Ray, aka 'The Lakeshore Strangler', who died at the hands of police the night before and had transferred his spirit to the doll by voodoo. That night, Andy's babysitter is pushed from their 5th-floor window to her death, and only young Andy knows that 'Chucky' - the doll - is responsible for that a death and a series of murders that follow. Worse than that, the soul of Charles Lee Ray is trying to get out of the doll's body - and take over Andy's...

receives the doll as a birthday gift, and Chucky soon resumes his killing spree.

This rip looks sooooo much better than the DVD. The DVD is a blurry, dark, colour
washed piece of crap that's an utter disgrace to this awesome movie. To contrast,
there are none of these problems with this HDTV rip, which has been downsampled to
fit with the ShitBusters rips of the other movies. Usually we ask that if you enjoy
a movie, you buy it... but here we say don't bother until MGM fixes there shit and
puts out a decent dvd of this movie.

The source was a nice 1080i TS stream, unfortunately there's a small logo that appears
briefly, but apart from that its fine and dandy. There's a slight second trim
to the begining to cut out a nasty interlaced logo.

I couldn't find the logo for a screenshot, but there's one there. See the From Beyond thread to see what it looks like since its from the same channel.

Thanks a lot for the fast transfer and for the movie :)

Only thing I want to say about it is the sound. I tested it on two 5.1 surroundsets and on a stereo set, but the sound seems like there's been two stereo tracks thrown on eachother which makes the sound phase or flange (never know the difference between these two :D )

sound is fine here on my 5.1, but i have no idea what phase or flange means  You sure you've not just got an AC3filter problem? You should use that if you don't have it, not ffdshow. FFDSHOW = crap for ac3.

All central voice comes from my center speaker, left and right and two rear are music and the odd sfx. Stream is unprocessed from the TS, but it is not infrequent for there to be audio problems. However, i couldn't notice anything and watched it all (not seen it in a while) without issue. I checked this rip on my pc (briefly) and on my xbox (all the way through) with no problems :)

Playing it right now just to be sure, and adjusting the volumes of my 5.1 speakers, sounds coming out of them fine, spectrum analyzer looks fine. Theatrical was 2.0 so its obviously a remastering, but it sounds fine.

It wasn't a brilliant 5.1 mix since all/most voice comes from the center channel, but there were no errors or problems i could hear with it.

Sounds like a decoding problem to me, I'll try on some other machines, but as i said, 5.1 with ac3 filter and my xbox to a receiver didn't display any problems.

Yeah ffdshow is installed on all 3 PC's
although all options are turned off, if I turn it on (mixer, volume) it doesn't help.

I always had AC3filter for my sound in the past. Weird that it is gone now.
Gonne check that then.

If I only could explain.

I uninstalled ffdshow completely, I might regret that later for some movies, installed AC3filter. It had the same effect until I put the VOICE slider all the way up in the MIXER settings. weird shit.

Gonna burn it now and put it to the real test. My movie room, no computers at all, just a DVD player, DTS surround set and a beamer.

It's not a filter, it's an effect that is used on a sound

If you play guitar you would know it :D

Effects
Sound Effect

There that should do it.

Glad it is fixed now. fuck ffdshow

So it was ffdshow? Thank jesus' tits for that. Its clearly not a matrix style 5.1 mix and its been sourced from 2.0 but i thankfully couldn't reproduce.
Yeah, there's a lot of warnings across the doom9/videohelp about it for audio.

I use xvid codec for latest xvid, ac3filter for ac3 and then ffdshow for the rest. Solves all the problems that people often have. Latest beta of xvid breaks up with old ffdshow, and i remember ffdshow glitching audio playback for my ac3/dts movies before. It made a kind of "clicking" noise.

So how should one proceed with re-installation of AC3 ffdshow?

First install AC3 then FFDSHOW or?..

hehe, oh well i guess it works as a topic bump and info thread :)

FFDshow takes over if you install it last. Go to ffdshow option under the menu "Play", then under "filters" in Media Player Classic.

play>filters>ffdshow
Then uncheck/unselect what you don't want it to handle, probably select none. The latest version of ffdshow can probably handle the audio fine, but its not worth playing it through it when ac3filter is better.

When i playback it usually looks like this:
Image
Since i use the individual codecs. FFdshow has caused me too much pain in the past.

Works fine for me using:

(S) --> AVI Splitter --> AC3Filter --> Morgan Stream Switcher --> (R)

Well yes and no. The Phase effect is sweeping of phase (polarity of the sound vibration, ie: +/-) for certain frequency ranges. Phasing issues with a decoder/speaker setup usually refer to 2 sounds that when played together, cancel each other out in the most extreme case. You may detect it as a warbly midtone or 'supressed' highend. Usually caused by poor recording or mastering. Just for a recording example: if you are miking a snare drum with 2 mics, one on top one on bottom, you have to invert (flip) the phase on the top mic (of the snare and any other mic facing down at the drumhead) because the air is intially moving away from the microphone. On the bottom the air intially moves toward it. Not doing so will sound like shit.

Any thanks infect/shitbusters for this awesome Child's Play rips! Been so long since I watched them.
