okay hashes match, this is the same version i've been hacking at for months. *Filenames restored and untagged*

This is the German Blood RED edition, the best dvd release available.

edit: I can now verify this... oh and RC stands for Region coding. It is region free.

I kick arse for the Lord!!

*ahem*

Sorry...couldn't help myself. I love that bit.

Hmmm...I wonder what difference there is between this version and the DVD I have (the US unrated release). Anyone know?

You have the worst edition ever TM, video and sound quality are meant to be far, far superior on this one. It is also english 2.0 surround, as opposed to Stereo. Your version will be over 2 minutes shorter too.

Bookmark this site:
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/f ... p?fid=1227

The 'unrated' R1:
Quote:
R1 (America) - Trimark

Theatrical Trailer
English HoH, French and Spanish Subtitles
1.78:1 anamorphic NTSC
English Dolby Digital Stereo
Amaray Case
Note - Released as Dead Alive
Easter Egg:
Easter Eggs - On the disc?s main menu, press LEFT which will highlight the Trimark logo. Press Enter to see the trailer for The Tommyknockers.

Quote:
Cuts
R1 - No - but this is the unrated US version which is approximately 2.5 minutes shorter than the 'full' European version.

And this version is:
Quote:
R2 (Germany) - Laser Paradise/Astro - Red Edition (2nd Edition)

7 Trailers: "Army of Darkness (Armee der Finsternis)", "Brain Dead (Braindead)", "Cannibal Ferox", "Angel of the Night", "Hellraiser 3", "DellaMorte DellAmore", "Day of the Dead"
1.66:1 anamorphic PAL
German Dolby Digital 5.1
German Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround
English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround
Amaray Case
Note - There are several differently named releases but all have the same spec:

- Blood edition (Released as Dead Alive by Laser Paradise/Astro)
- Christmas edition (Released as Dead Alive by Laser Paradise/Astro)

The disc is also part of the "Peter Jackson Collection" & "Blood Edition Box Nr. 1"

Quote:
R2 - No cuts

USA unrated seem to be one of the worst versions out.

Addix,
It keeps getting worse and worse, your version is nuked.

Correct AR is 1.66 : 1 (according to imdb). This german DVDr has the correct aspect ratio.

The R1 dvd you own is nuked as it is hideously and badly cropped at 1.78:1. I believe that means you are missing a big chunk of what we see in the region 2 version.

That's a bit of a bum deal to say the least  If you got a DVDr burner this definitely warrants a download!

Damn that sucks. I may have to grap this one then. How the hell can there be 2.5 minutes missing without it being cut?

Thanks for the link btw. That will come in very handy...especially since I am region/standard free. Now from here on out I can find out the best ones to buy and import if necessary. :D

Addix, that site works by comparing to the theatrical release. This is regarded as uncut and they compare from that as a base point. Therefore the 'unrated' edition can have many scenes restored, be longer than the original theatrical run and still be cut, yet be classified as having no cuts as it is longer than the theatrical version.

Sounds a bit odd but does make sense, else it would take a lot of effort figuring out whether stuff is truely uncut.

Seems to have had a bit of trouble stateside. MPAA hacked it to bits, I guess they didn't get it. Its weird, the bbfc made a statement saying they thought it was hilarious and passed it uncut :o I know... i'm scared too

Vipco do the same shit here with their DVD/VHS releases. Never trust anything that says uncut on the box

Bah! That wasn't a very fun fight. I was hoping for hair pulling or jello wrestling or something. :P If you want 2CD, then AC3 it is (XviD).
