Look at how much blackspace there is and how much bitrate is wasted on it, plus no IVTC :(

ALWAYS crop out all of the black. Even if you think you have it all look carefully. Like in video-man's Night of the Creeps rip, he did an excellent job but missed a tiny bit of black on the bottom

The more black you crop out, the better the image quality will be. Also, the framerate should not be 29fps in this case. I've never ripped a VHS before so I'm not sure if the best method to get it to 23.976fps is to force film or IVTC, maybe somebody else can chime in with that. Either way I'm very glad you're looking to re-rip it and willing to take constructive criticism :) :beerchug:

vhsrips are very, very tricky. Its often not overly worthwhile to ivtc if you can't get it right :(

Cropping is a good way of increasing quality though :)

I wonder if there is a crop filter to VirtualDub ? ...and what is IVTC ? ...thanks

edit I found out what filter to use; null transform...I guess it doesnt help to crop after the first rip is done...cause you mean crop it away under the first rip..right ?...but still what is IVTC ? :D
