Basically a weak-ass Omen/Exorcist variation. Except in bayou county. And with a girl. And with a Super Smart Scientist Woman Who Was A Priest, But Lost Her Faith. Also none of them is really evil, it's everybody else (but don't worry, the merciful God will need only about 30 seconds to wipe them all out). And that's about it. Not much substance, not much surprise, not much scare, not much originality, not much of anything actually.
Well, the Englishman playing a bayou redneck was funny. If I didn't know him before, I'd probably be really puzzled as to what accent is he supposed to be having.
It also features the first bloody sacrifice to a god (God in this case) that is completely bloodless. Or at least the flashbacks show the Smart Scientist's daughter killed as a sacrifice without a tiniest drop of blood nor any wound whatsoever. Sure, one might argue that those aren't flashbacks (that's never stated), but just her imagination of how it happened (even though she's supposedly the one who found the bodies), but then, well, she's not particularly bright for a scientist, specially an investigating scientist dealing with religion, superstition and shit like that. I bet Mr. Miyagi would not approve.
Speaking of shit, that's what this movie is, complete with CGI bugs on it. Don't waste your time on it. 2.8/10. Again, the ghost of Mr. Miyagi would voice his disapproval, if he only could.
