well not wanting to pick on the germans, although they do it an awful lot, if its not english language, just use a title from the original language. Sure give it a subtitle for foreign regions like usa and english, but it just comes off as tacky giving it an english title off the bat if you ask me

I am from germany...
I promise you: you will not be disappointed as a gorefreak. It is only blood, gore und mutilations without any real background. And in the last half hour there is anyway no dialogue...

Oftentimes German titles for horror movies sound too corny for Germans, I think. A literal tranlation of 'The Burning Moon' sounds erm... well stupid in German. Then again, the English tranlation might also sound stupid to native speakers of English but most people in Germany won't be aware of that when they read the title. Hope this make sense.

No it doesn't, if it sounds stupid in german, call it something that doesn't sound stupid, i really don't understand why they'd abandon their own language just to make a title sound better... no i think its purely to sell to english territories. They really should just call it something in their native tongue, then call the foreign distribution something else, you know... like a normal movie.
Calling the movie something english is just plain retarded, lacks any integrity if you ask me.
edit: not picking on this one movie, there's a whole host and many cheapo italian movies like that too, but its misleading for consumers and i think the whole point is to mislead. Most of all, i think it screws up emule searches!

I think that's also a factor but not the only one - see above. spudthedestroyer wrote: | Calling the movie something english is just plain retarded, lacks any integrity if you ask me. |
You're probably right in a way but I think those considerations about a 'cool' English name are made nonetheless. It seems to be a German (maybe non-English speaking) thing, come to think of it. There aren't many English/American movies with a German/non-English title.
BTW, I'm not saying they should do it or not do it, just trying to figure out why they do it.

Indeed, but that's because when they choose a movie name they don't think "oh that sounds stupid in english, lets switch to german", they usually just choose a non-stupid sounding name to start with
I still think its better for the industry if they were just confident enough to give it a real movie title then convert it for foreign distribution.
I guess this goes to higher quality btw?

And they usually don't speak any German.
TBH, I hardly ever watch German movies so I don't have a strong opinion about this. Most of the stuff I watch is either in English or some Asian language.

Well.. there might be another theory about the name in english:
(Might be stupid, but here I go)
Many people in my country (not Germany, BTW) go to the cinema and only enter to those films whose titles are in english, there's a stupid thought that if it's in spanish it must be a piece of shit, however, most of the time, many spanish speaking movies are as good or even better that their english counterparts.
I don't know about this movie, but that could be a theory.... maybe

Depends on the country.
Here in Croatia, if people know the movie is Croatian, they probably won't go see it
But who can blame them since most are always war/drama poop.
That's what I plan to change Be warned, oh be warned

I've seen a short extract of this film in youtube, with eng subtitles. Do you know where I can find the eng subs? I need it to make italian subs for my community.
Thanks.
PS: This movie rocks!
