Based on the original manga, 1-ICHI is a prequel to Takashi Miike's ICHI THE KILLER and a film on its own.
Nao Omori reprise the role of Ichi, who we follow during his high school years.
Mr. Dai (played by TEACH... best known as Mario from CITY OF LOST SOULS) is the best fighter in school...
whenever he fights Ichi is there and has a huge smile on his face.
Mr. Dai thinks that Ichi is laughing at him but in fact he enjoys watching the violence that goes through the fights.
Everyone is bullying, taunting and making fun of Ichi...
even little kids from his karate class. Yet Ichi refuses to let go of his anger and fight others.
Just when Mr. Dai is about to get Ichi, a new transfer student (K?ji Chihara) starts to make his own laws...
by beating up everyone and breaking their bones!
In a fight with the new student, Mr. Dai ends up on the ground, beaten and broked up from almost everywhere.
It seems like this new guy wants to fight Ichi because supposedly he is the only one that could give him
some challenge (remiscent of Kakihara from ICHI THE KILLER).

? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?

The sequel, or actually, the prequel to Mikee's Ichi The Killer.

There is (afaik) no official DVD out. This is from the DVD that (afaik) was
made from a Japanese DVD and was subbed by the one dude who knows what he is
doing.

Surprisingly, considering the huge fanbase the first part has, not many of
the people we've talked with even knew this was out. So, since we're such
nice blokes & blokettes, we allways do the wrong thing. Go enjoy.

From IMDB :

Summary: Ichi's first strike - WHAT A BLAST!!!

Wow, if you're a fan of Miike's work and liked the "original" Ichi, you will
probably love this prequel! It's almost hard to believe that it wasn't Miike
himself on the director's chair. But as the assistant director in the
production of Miike's masterpiece, Masato Tanno for sure knew what he was
doing as the director in this prequel. He shows Shiroichi during his time
at Highschool, where two other boys lay claim to the status of the best fighter
of all Highschools in town. So, almost the whole film is about fighting.
And these guys really know how to punch! Tanno's film isn't as strange and
dark as its "forerunner", but it doesn't have to hide behind it. You can call
it in a row with such great masterpieces as "Ichi" or "Story of Ricky".
It's different but brutal and violent as hell. Acting was good, so was the
camera work. But director Masato Tanno definitely did the best job of them all.
If you have the possibility, you should rent it. If you're a fan of Miike's
films, buy it - you won't regret! It'll blow you away!!!

*NOTE*

We're currently searching for an DVDR site (EU, North) that needs to get it's
reputation ruined.

that movie is good stuff, i love it, it's funny and silly and some nice kung fuing (for me the fighting is better done than Ichi The Killer)

What did you guys think?

Thought it was pulled down too much from being shot on video. They could've at least added a fake 'film-grain' filter in post production or something. Looked like this movie had no budget at all.

not approximately as good as the original.
looks like been filmed with a cheap vhs-home-cam.
worth a look though.
