When a young girl mysteriously disappears, Police Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) travels to a remote island to investigate. But this pastoral community, led by the strange Lord Summerisle (a brilliant performance by the legendary Christopher Lee), is not what it seems as the devout Christian detective soon uncovers a secret society of wanton lust and pagan blasphemy. Can Howie now stop the cult's ultimate sacrifice before he himself comes face to face with the horror of The Wicker Man?
This restored and extended release of The Wicker Man provides admirers of the movie with the definitive DVD version of one of the great horror masterpieces of all time. Along with the integration of 15 minutes of rarely seen footage, it also includes an all-new audio commentary which marks this release out from all previous editions.

Quote:
THE WICKER MAN-EXTENDED VERSION was transferred from the original 1" analog telecine master - the best element known to exist. Whenever possible, sequences from the Theatrical Version have been used to augment the lesser video/audio quality of the old analog tape. The shift in quality your indication of the differences in these versions.

Verified.

NOT my rip. Just downloaded it some time ago and watched :)
Well, I wouldn't classify this as a horror movie, at least not an usual one, but a classic neverlethess. I enjoyed it.
All in all decent quality rip and good movie. IMDb gives wrong info about the movie. Theatrical Version is 84min and the extended version runs 99min.

SPOILER WARNING! More info about the movie

Hmmm....I've been told this is either a movie you'll love or hate....

It is said C.-lee cherishes this movie...and that there is a conspiracy to destroy all uncut copies of it.(Only one copy remains in the vaults of the bbc; the other one is supposedly buried underneath a well known highway)
(source: interview by SFX mag)

It's not my style of horror though...I'll politely skip it .

The Wicker Man: Expect some differences from the 1973 original in Neil LaBute's upcoming remake of the British goth horror classic. Speaking with The Sunday Herald, LaBute revealed that on top of the location shift (a small UK isle to the US mid-west), the plot differs quite a bit too - "The original was a horror film about a policeman sent to a small island to investigate the disappearance of a girl who finds a pagan society. In my version [Nicolas] Cage winds up on an island that's a very matriarchal society, run by women who are the direct descendants of pilgrims...I can't reveal the plot too far. But Howie's [Cage's character] downfall comes about when he is torn between two very different women, neither of whom is what they seem. One is very outgoing and apparently upfront about her sexuality; the other is dark and intense. But looks can be deceptive, as he finds out". Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder play the two women in question and we're promised to expect lots of sex and death. Thanks to 'Craig'.

mmm, Angelica Jolie and Winona Ryder (+lots of sex and death)... can't be that bad =)
Almost everytime remake's suck totally, though

yeah
pretty good amount... you can see some of those scenes here; http://www.horrordvdtalk.com/reviews/WickerMan/WickerMan.htm (Link also in first post), but if you haven't seen the movie yet and are planning to watch it. I wouldn't read that review too carefully, cause there's major spoilers in there

Like i said above, its a good movie the first time thru, but has very little replay value once u know whats up.
