it is difficult because its half content, half matting... so technically it could be considered an overcrop if removed.

Yeah you could look at it that way: The first line is half shit and half good.

Since it is a line with not only valid picture information it should be removed imho. It would add a bit to compressibilty and you don't really lose anything removing those two shitty lines.

But good to know. Next time I'll only say movedis if the rip has more than two half shitty lines.

I'd be inclined to agree, however it is only something that can be settled via a fight to the death between two scantily clad women :)

+1

Low Quality otherwise there becomes a grey area as similar rips cropped like this have always been moved :pirate:

I don't think they have been mate, or at least i don't recall ever doing so. Its either a bad crop or an overcrop, which means its probably down to ripper discretion :(.

I'd personally crop it out myself, will have to ask on this one though.

This is my rip - i just AutoGK'd it, wouldn't know how to remove those lines.

Can someone point me to the simplest possible faq on manual ripping, and which tool is best?

thanks

Hmmm - thats probably why i just use autoGK; looks like a nice guide though, thanks Bugs!

What about a VHS ripping guide? I've been ripping a whole lot of VHS lately, but results are pretty poor...

Thanks for the rip anyway, wretch.I downloaded it from cinemaggedon...
I also use Autogk for my rips, works fine and it's easy to use compared to Flask mpeg, the first tool i used
I guess the way of removing those lines is cropping the screen borders carefully, even if you loose the original AR of the source. Anyway i've seen worse rips than this, and those lines didn't bother me at all.
By the way vtwin0001, you won't need any subs for this. it's easy to understand, and the plot isn't new
