"Force of Darkness" tells the story of a serial killer played by Mel Novak, who suffers from multi-personality disorder. He is possessed by some demon and goes on a killing spree."Force of Darkness" is a rare and difficult to find horror film which predates Robert Resnikoff's action packed "The First Power".However I must say that "Force of Darkness" does what it seems to set out to do quite well.It entertains the viewer. The action keeps moving the story along at a good pace. There are some effective jump scares and one or two rather creepy stalking scenes. The movie would be improved dramatically if more care was put into the atmosphere, but it's still a decent and gloomy crime/procedural/supernatural horror with strong religious and spiritual overtones.6 out of 10.

I have been working through watching as many eighties exploitation films as I can find , when I came across "Force of Darkness", I just assumed it was just another mindless paint-by-the-numbers eighties styled exploitation film when I realized that the screenplay writer clearly was educating the viewer on fallen spirits and the various New Age religions and psychology movements connected with fallen spirits. A real surprise!
