I tried IVTC and Forced Film but neither gave satisfactory results (choppy or with notable interlacing), so I kept the framerate and de-interlaced it. I'm not an expert at that sort of thing so maybe I'll ask for some help next time the situation arises.  So we'll just have to live with the ghosting (it's not that noticeable during playback and the rip would be in LQ anyway).

Sounds like you needed to use the alternative ivtc method or a different frame ordering; i'll give it a go anyway, but if it was just deinteralaced it will probably give me a migraine...  i'm unfortunately one of those people that can't watch stuttering/dupe frame ntsc rips
