Movie was fine (though, there were no end credits... aargh ;) ). OK quality for an old rip, watchable. btw, the movie is coming in DVD next month

Upcoming Artisan Posted by Dave on Friday, June 6 2003 2:39 AM
DVD File is reporting that Artisan Entertainment will be releasing the following onto DVD on August 19th.
Bride of the Re-Animator
The Fourth Angel
Fright Night Part II
I've Been Waiting For You
Lair of the White Worm
Rodentz
Repossessed
Interesting. Potentially good news ruined by the fact that all of them are full frame and bare bones. Keep in mind some of these have been previously released by other studios in OAR and had extras. Retail price is $14.95 a pop.

Some of these may be OAR, but I know Bride, Worm, and Fright Night II should all be widescreen.

Artisan, I think I speak for all of us when I say: Thanks but no thanks. How utterly disappointing.

yip
i used to chop the credits. I didnt even think of different cuts of the film/running times, as they were just for me to watch. most people dont even watch credits, i usually dont, and with the IMDB its usually just a click away for the info.

move monkey.talk to granpa.mode.nostaligia

i think way back when i cap'd this in the divx low motion era, i didnt have things like bitrate calculators and kind of guestimated movies bitrate and cut the credits when i ran a batch of mpegs thru encoding. i guess they would have fit if 686mb was the ending size, though i think there are 2 'seams' where i had to encode some areas seperate and re-insert them to get it under 700mb.
Hehe, there are quite a few 510mb to less then 650mb ones i did because 700mb disc's werent available or too expensive for me. I think the price was like around $17 for 10x 650mb cds. Now its around 100x 700mb cds for $24.
haha, i got distracted. yeah, credits suck.

Fright Night Part II (1989)

Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace
Written by Tom Holland, Tim Metcalfe, Miguel Tejada-Flores, Tommy Lee Wallace
Cinematography by Mark Irwin
Edited by Jay Lash Cassidy
Music by Brad Fiedel
Starring Roddy McDowall, William Ragsdale, Traci Lind, Jon Gries, Brian Thompson, etc.

IMDb | Rotten Tomatoes

Plot Synopsis
This horror-comedy sequel finds the teen protagonist of Fright Night being terrorized by the undead sister of the vampire he killed in the original film. Two years after the death of bloodsucker Jerry Dandridge, young Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) has settled into life as a college student and rejected his former belief in the existence of vampires. Although he's busy pursuing the affections of determined coed Alex (Traci Lind), Charley soon falls under the spell of the mysterious and alluring Regine (Julie Carmen). Although everything about the woman screams vampire, her feminine charms -- and her claims of being nothing but an outlandish performance artist -- lead Charley to become her unwilling servant. Torn between Regine's enchantments and his loyalty to Traci, the youth again looks for help from Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), the washed-up horror-show host who assisted him in the first film. Soon, Charley, Peter, and Traci are facing off against a coven of picturesque bloodsuckers led by Regine, who reveals herself to be the ancient sister of Jerry Dandridge. Directed and co-written by John Carpenter colleague Tommy Lee Wallace, Fright Night Part 2 includes a co-writing credit for Pretty Woman scribe Stephen Metcalfe and cinematography from Mark Irwin, who has worked with everyone from David Cronenberg to the Farrelly brothers. -- Brian J. Dillard

are you sure, that bitrate looks bad, and the screenshots (as well as being pan scan, although I won't hold that against it) look overly blurry...

Pretty suprised its a saphire actually

I don't think it's good enough for the HQ section. Looks blurry, probably because of the source... But its still low bitrate, and there's even a small cropping error visible in the screens so unless spud thinks otherwise, I'll move it to LQ.

Too long of runtime for a one cd rip i think. I agree it should be in the low Q. Saphire should have went for 2 cd's with this one.

hehe, geek squad alert,

I think they could have pulled it off, if they'd have trimmed that audio down, looks like a setting hickup (160kb/s?), maybe even do the nasty and drop the resolution a setting might have cleared it up a bit.

Anyway, just to make the clarification low/high just makes the distinction between crisp clean sources/rips and those that aren't. Not bad or anything, and its fun to be a geek too... I even have a casio calculator on my desk
