In the six-part British "vampire-slaying" mini-series Ultraviolet we discover that UV light is used (both in surgery and via high-tech weaponry) to identify people who have been infected with a disease labelled "Code 5". It's transmitted via a bite to the neck, but at no point in the series is the word "vampire" used. Instead, in the second episode ("In Nomine Patris") the nickname "Leech" is introduced. We learn that it was this disease, these "Leeches", that were responsible for the Fire of London, and that one in 20 people are already infected. In the opening episode, policeman Michael Colefield (Jack Davenport) is recruited into the secretive CIB. He meets its introverted priest-chief Pearse (Philip Quast), the emotionally driven Dr Angela March (Susannah Harker) and the bullish heavyweight Vaughan (Idris Elba). Spinning around Mike's suddenly complicated life are his best friend's jilted fianc?e Kirstie (Colette Brown) and old flame Frances (Fiona Dolman). In later hard-hitting episodes we see a 12-year-old boy stab his teacher priest to death ("Mea Culpa") and the capture of a "Leech" ("Persona Non Grata"). This intriguing series ends having tied together most of its threads, but dangles worrying implications at the viewer... not so much to suggest a sequel as to hammer home everything at stake.

Thanks go to Mournblade. Cheers!
This isn't exactly a horror serie, but as it has some horror elements in it, I think this will fit here, no? :)

I really liked this, I missed a couple of the eps first time around but it was repeated a few months back. Typical Brit stuff, fairly low on the effects side, but more gritty and down to earth than alot of US stuff. I would definitely recommend this.

In my opinion, it's pretty OK(mediocre) mini-serie. Didn't like it that much, but I think it's worth vieving once :)

Nice to see that there were interested for this. In FH this got like one reply...

The question is not how many sources are there, but how reliable sources. I now have four parts, so at least for these a reliable source is available. Ok, as reliable as my provider and the MPAA lawyers allow, but I suppose this is valid for all of us :D

I still have all eps shared. Not on release priority though, but let me know if some episode is hard to get and I'll set it to release. That might be for some help :)

I actually like them. They are not gory, but in a way they show the most believable integration of vampires in a modern society I have ever seen in a film. Some nice ideas, too. For a long time I wondered whether vampires could use a phone. In this series it is answered: no. There a many other small almost hidden aspects which make this series watchable. Of course not for die hard hardcore fans :-)

I don't know. I loved kindred. I'd probably prefer it slightly before ultraviolet. But I don't think both series compare well.

Btw. compared to the books the kindred series is worthless incoherent shit. The clan abilities are mixed everybody can do everything even the nosferatu could win a mr. universe contest.

So I self-hypnotized myself to believe that the books and the series have nothing to do with each other. :-)

The reason that the series was cancelled is because the main actor who played "Luna" died in a motorcycle accident in Europe. The series was gearing up to be real big and the buzz was huge, but there is no way it could've continued without "Luna".
