John Carpenter's Pro-Life *****

This is best episode in the series delivering the blood splattered goods and which is exaggerated throughout by Cody Carpenter's delicate melody. From the beginning a young teenager is fleeing an unseen aggressor. She stumbles onto the road directly into the path of a speeding car. Luckily the girl escapes any injury and by coincidence the occupants, a doctor accompanied by a nurse are headed to an abortion clinic. They are now plus one scared and frightened passenger. Soon afterwards a menacing red van slowly drives up to the front gates and a tense build up which inevitably escalates to a terrible provocation after dialog fails to impress any direction of validity. One man's delusion in what he believes is a correct motive to enforce 'God's Will' upon hearing a voice. Totally vehement in his murderous actions when in fact the opposite is the truth, a more sinister rationale. The debate between right and wrong in this case. The arguments rage over a stand off with the surgeon general of the clinic.

I think the subject matter is an ideal choice for Carpenter given his glorious portfolio of work; Prince of Darkness, The Thing and Assault on Precinct 13 all amalgamated into the episode called Pro-Life. It makes perfect sense to revel in his infamy.

Pro Life is nice, probably the best so far in the 2nd season, but i'm waiting for something better to come. The ending didn't do much for me and i'm quite tired of actors in rubber monster suits....even in low budget stuff like your average tv episode.

Opinion's a funny thing isn't it? ;)

I thought John Carpenter's episode was the wekaest so far, it was a confused mess IMHO.

Well you have to wait a little while for the sources to grow, please be patient. As this was originally a torrent file which has been passed over, and now I see 66/142+2 on my eMule.

It's 100% down and sharing now :)

I didn't know it was a release at that moment but I saw a couple of friends from the forum waiting and I left it working. Next morning it was downloaded.

Thanks mate!!! :beerchug:

Parka, you're a mate. I need room and as I see there are enough full sources to get them complete, I save them on an external HD.

If someone needs a little help, I can put them back.

Well, About the last two episodes...

Pro Life

Very Carpenter episode, it reminded me of 4 of his movies, same 3 Avanze mentioned before, but some scenes also reminded me of Halloween. Good episode, but to be sincere I was expecting a little bit more. I guess 1 hour is not enough time for a really great episode. The way some scenes ended make me feel that it was a longer screenplay, but it was butchered because of the time limits. I would give it 3 1/2 stars.

Pelts.

Now... IMHO this one is one of the best this season, it has the right amount of gore, it is also a ghoulish episode from the beginning to the end and it holds it's creepiness throughout the episode, to me the idea of a "special" racoon race is very original and Meat Loaf portrays very well his character. In my scale, this one gets 4 1/2 stars.

Dario Argento's Pelts *****

Pelts was great fun and satisfying in the gore department. Nothing like using a sharp pair of scissors to cut out your large intestine, but at least he did not feast on them like someone we know. Funny how each victim perished in the way they related to the dead raccoons, the poacher with the animal leghold trap, the seamstress with the needle and thread, the fat fur trader, well I shan't elaborate. I also think Simonetti's soundtrack was sublime, mystical and creepy when the spellbound victims decided to kill themselves in a most gruesome fashion. Those sentry raccoons might seem cute on the close-up shot but watch out.

Pelts? Well for me it was nasty gore and not much else, really. Simonetti score sounds like a pale imitation of Goblin golden era
and nothing screams "Dario Argento". It would be nice to see for once an episode recalling the same atmosphere of those classic movies from the old "Masters of Horror" themselves. Yeah, dream on :?

I'd have to probably agree.

Visually the best looking one was the one with Reggie from Phantasm. There's some really top notch camera shots in that one.

Pelts was excellent, Meat Loaf is hella-cool. I'm not sure about that last sequence though, its a bit cheesy for my tastes.

Overall i think s2 has probably been much better than series 1.
