IMDb

For Fans of Gaspar Noe here is a film by his favorite director. This film influenced Noe to create the Butcher Series (Carne, I Stand Alone, Irreversable). The cinematography is WAY ahead of its time. They were using body mounted camera shots before they were even thought of using in films like Reqrium for a Dream. Enjoy. If you or i can find a emule link post it and then we can move this to the torrent page but this film is so hard to find that i've been only able to come across through a vhs rip passed through many hands and eventually into mine.

Angst (1983)
Directed by
Gerald Kargl

Writing credits
Gerald Kargl
Zbigniew Rybczynski

Genre: Crime / Horror (more)

Plot Summary: A man is released from prison after serving four years for murdering an elderly woman. He quickly begins to feel the compulsion to kill again. After failing to murder a cab driver, he flees and discovers a secluded rural home, where a young woman lives with her sick mother and retarded brother. He then begins to take out his sadistic pleasures on them, attempting to hold them hostage, while thinking of his troubled childhood with his abusive mother and grandmother...

@NICO

this film is incredible !
got a dvd transfer from the french vhs
above is the rip ;)

but it's dubbed in french, and the quality is not that good...

@NICO : it would be really great if you could provide screenshots of your dvd, or even better rip it in xvid (use autogordianknot, real easy)

more info about the forthcoming dvd (long expected, no date planned yet) :

Quote:
Barrel Entertainment have been very busy putting the finishing touches on their forthcoming DVD release of Gerald Kargl and Zbigniew Rybczynski's masterpiece, Angst. Based on the notorious 1980 triple murder spree committed by Austrian serial killer Werner Kniesek, Angst casts an unsettling eye deep into one man's psychosis. Rarely seen since its completion over twenty years ago, Barrel has painstakingly restored this lost gem from the original camera negatives. Featuring innovative and riveting camerawork by Oscar ? winner Zbig Rybczynski, Angst will leave you breathless.

This project has been a labour of love for the Barrel team and they promise it will show when the disc hits the street. No official release date has been announced yet, but Barrel plan to have the final platter ready to roll out by early 2005. While a few more extras may be added in the meantime, here?s a preliminary list of what will be included:

? New high-definition digital transfer struck from the original 35 mm camera negative under the supervision of director Gerald Kargl !
? Widescreen presentation (1.78:1), enhanced for 16x9 televisions !
? German language with optional English subtitles !
? Full running audio commentary by director Gerald Kargl and German film scientist Dr. Marcus Stiglegger !
? Interview featurette with director Gerald Kargl by Nekromantik director J?rg Buttgereit !
? Interview featurette with Oscar ? winning cinematographer Zbigniew Rybczynski !
? Ski Scenes with Franz Klammer, an early Kargl / Rybczynski short film collaboration !
? Theatrical trailer !
? Vintage news articles detailing the Werner Kniesek case, translated into English for the first time !
? Liner notes by film historian Steven J. Schneider !
? Optimal image quality: RSDL dual-layer edition !
? Much, much more !

i had the vhs of this movie, and lent it to a friend of mine
it never came back :(
thank you.
i really enjoyed this movie. For me, it's the roots of "c'est arriv? pr?s de chez vous" (it happened near to your home), a belgian movie (subjective camera, a slasher at work, explaining how he kills people and make corpses disapear, and, having with the team making a reportage on him).

With Maniac, a fav'
real big thank ;)

info: there is another french dub version available, it's 16:9, but shows less image than the 4:3, is a lot darker, and is missing the first 8mins (ie the incredible first scene)
Schizophrenia - AKA Angst - Gerald Kargl - FR - 1983.avi

there's also a good quality 4:3 vhsrip dubbed in spanish, complete, but it's in b&w...
la.angustia.del.miedo.(angst.1983).XVID-VHSrip.by.NuBus.ABANDOMOVIEZ.avi

but there's a chance NICO will rip his vhs, german with english subs ;)

You guys gotta give me some time. The rip wont be a problem but getting it up migt be. I had to reformat my comp and doing so has tweaked the firewall. For some reason I can surf the net and download small files from websites but uploading anything is non happening at all. Can't use frontpage or even get shit off of emule (i'm fucking having withdrawl). My friend will be by tomorrow to sort out the firewall issue, so be patient. I searched around and no one has this for sale that i have seen. Not even the site where we originally got it from! Give me time :suicide:
