Yes, i'm also certain i saw Cronenberg and also Roger Corman listed somewhere sometime, but they seem to have been removed from the roster..

Anyway, this is so far by far the best horror series ever...maybe even my all-time favourite tv-series.

Am anxiously awaiting especially for John Carpenter's episode...

I just finished watching the 2nd episode, a lot different from the first one, but also very good, the tension on it is great, i'm looking forward to see the next ones, damn this program is top notch.

I had such high hopes for this show, I watched the first episode and was blown away, so fucking good, masterpiece episode even.....but then i get to the second episode to be totally dissapointed, not as good as I would have wanted it to be, dragged on too much to get to nothing IMO...anyways still awaiting on the next episode and for the John Carpenter episode

Your kidding right? Don't you think that's giving it a tad too much credit? That episode was kinda dumb, it looked good, and the direction was fine... it was very enjoyable as far as tv goes. However, the story was dumb as a plank, I mean surfer shack dumb. And the twist was laughable, okay it wasn't Secret Window pathetic, but it was really not very well written imo. However, it did kind of rise above its silliness in the most part and i enjoyed it.

Masterpiece though? :o

yeah, turned pretty cheesy, but I rather enjoyed the production value and set pieces if the "don't need to think for this one" value was a little too high for my tastes. I didn't think it was bad though, and it was well made and looked good, just thought the script was rather uninspiring.

For a tv series though, its pretty good though... hope it has a long life, and they get some more director's onboard for series 2.

So despite the rather dumb writing of the first episode, I still would recommend this one. I guess that's one good thing, episodes are totally unrelated... infact they aren't episodes as much as individual so it doesn't matter that much that you didn't enjoy one particular episode.

Enjoyed it :)

I've not watched the second episode yet, i'll be happy if its not as dumb as the first one storywise.

Pretty much my opinion of the first 2 episodes so far. Well directed but dumb, dumb, oh so dumb. Damn, it should be still possible to make a horror show aesthetic AND scary...
But I have my hopes for Argento's... considering that he shot his last movies as if they were telefilms, maybe he'll be clever enough to reverse the process this time

So far I have enjoyed both eps, but I do have to also agree, they had dumb plots. The first was very dumb, kind of like Haute Tension dumb. A poor mix of cliches, at least for horror fans. <s>The rape scene was rough for TV, even Showtime</s>. The second was done by Stuart Gordon, so right away any cheese was made tolerable because I appreciate him as a director/producer. Slow moving, but he took a corny premise (witches/evil rat...), and put it aside, tossing in some science and focused more on mystery and suspense. I am looking forward to Hooper's this week. A shame Romero signed off...

i thought the first episode was very close to a masterpiece...the story wasn't dumb at all, it was literate and subtle and had a lot of substance, though i admit it was written so the substance didn't get in the way and it's easy to miss it. But it was not empty, that's a flat out misjudgment to say it was.

The second one was also very good, though it had a few elements i thought could've been improved upon.

Yeah, that must be it, must have missed it  In French, I'd call that episode a 'joyeux foutoir', a cheerful dump... It's full of elements which try to give you the illusion of substance, but put all the pieces together and all you'll get will be a shaky scenario which tries to hide its lack of originality behind false intricacies.
My opinion, nothing more.

I love opinions.

Bleh, this is tv you know, not quite meant to be ground breaking cinema. Reminds me of a good meal... enjoyable while you're eating it, a nice little aftertaste and in the end it turns into a joyeux foutoir,

Entertaining so far, gonna watch #2 tonight before bed.

I'm French so I tend to be quite picky when it comes to food

One thing i didn't really like on the first episode was the traps.
I mean in like 20 seconds she builds a dealdly weapon with her panties, like she was some fucking Macgyver. :?

I think the first episode was supposed to be light/comic and silly, like his other movies (phantasm, bubba, etc.) hence the silly rob zombie esque bad guy, cheesy traps and 'twist'.

The only thing to save this series so far HAS to be the full-frontal nudity in Ep2!!! Yay! :P
Ive enjoyed them both, now, and am looking forward to the rest. Gotta keep in mind that this is made for TV!...
Ep1; Silly, dumb and well-paced!
Ep2; Sily, erm, dumb, and slo-paced!
Guess the watchword for the rest is prolly gonna be 'Dumb', then... :wacky:
Good so far, (very Eighties, imo!). Just hope they get better and a 'lil bit more intelligent!...
Rumour has it that Series 2 will include PWS Anderson and Uwe Boll...
TRUE Masters of horror...

Call me weird, but I much prefered episode 2. It wasn't dumb dumb, it was silliness, but it wasn't that lame rob zombie esque ultra hard demonesque style killer like you see in every single movie... those types of film piss me off.

However episode 2 was better since it was a lot more "original". I prefered the pacing too, there's nothing appealing about running round all over the place and then splicing in flashbacks for me. Plus seeing a baby stabbed in the neck, and then later killed, you don't see that very often in modern movies.

Episode 2 I enjoyed more than episode 1.

No, he stabs the baby in the neck first when he's trying to avoid doing it in the scene before where the baby dies. Watch it again if you missed it, you see the knife draw blood.

Ok, ok - 'SpudThePedantic'!
I was lost in a 'green fog' on my 1st viewing...
Just watched it again with slightly clearer eyes!
Ep 3 should be here soon... Fingers-crossed it maintains the current level of quality...

PS - Sacateca; Are you Don Coscarelli's PR Guy, by any chance!?
