Mosura / Mothra 1961-1998 | | Another one of Toho's monsters that needs no introduction as we all know her for being sort of one of Godzilla's allies every now & then. | Navigation:

light blue = unverified
- Mosura / Mothra (1961)
- Mosura / Mothra (1996)
- Mosura 2 - Kaitei Kessan / Rebirth Of Mothra 2 (1997)
- Mosura 3 - Kingu Gidora Raishu - Rebirth Of Mothra 3 (1998)
| Mosura / Mothra (1961) | | Review: Shipwreck survivors are found on Beiru, an island previously used for atomic tests. Amazingly free of radiation effects, they believe they were protected by a special juice given to them by the natives. A joint expedition of Rolithican and Japanese scientists explores Beiru and discovers many curious things, including two women only a foot high. Unscrupulous expedition leader Clark Nelson abducts the women and puts them in a vaudeville show. But their sweet singing contains a telepathic cry for help to Mothra, the gigantic moth worshiped as a goddess by the island people. Mothra seeks the women in Tokyo, wreaking the usual havoc and special effects. |
| Mosura / Mothra (1996) | | Review: A logging and mining company working in Northern Japan disrupts a set of magical seals buried undergound, causing the release of Death Ghidora, an enormous, three-headed monster that had previously wiped out all life on Mars and caused the extinction of the dinosaurs on Earth. When Death Ghidora begins sucking the life out of the environment, the only thing that can save the planet from destruction is Mothra, the giant flying insect. |

there's a lot of other monsterfilms in the line of godzilla, that Toho made that hardly anyone seems to know or has forgotten
Snowman,Rodan,Varan,Mothra,Gorath(having a giant walrus in it ),Dogora,the 2 giant frankenstein films,space amoeba,etc...
every now & then one of those shows up on the mule

perhaps, but it's a bit difficult coz a few of those monsters have been enemies or sidekicks to godzilla at some point. So they kinda half belong in the godzilla collection
Maybe a Toho monstercollection or something, but then again, godzilla belongs there as well

I do not think anyone would care if you made a new godzilla collection I remeber that the godzilla collection is a total mess.

Quote: | Mothra is usually accompanied by two tiny priestesses or fairies (often called shobijin?Japanese for "small beauties") who also speak for her. For Mothra's first three film appearances these twin fairies were played by the Peanuts. In Mothra they demonstrate telepathic ability, within speaking range with people and over great distances with Mothra. As in all future appearances, they call to Mothra in prayer and song, but they and Mothra are also connected on some deeper level beyond their control. In Mothra vs. Godzilla they seem also to demonstrate short-range teleportation, and in Ghidrah, the Three-Headed Monster they translate not only Mothra's chirps but an entire conversation among three daikaiju. Decades later, in Godzilla: Tokyo SOS, two other shobijin (portrayed by Masami Nagasawa and Chihiro ?tsuka) demonstrate telekenesis as well.
In the Godzilla films of the 1990s Mothra's priestesses (played by Keiko Imamura and Sayaka Osawa) identify themselves as Cosmos, the last survivors of an ancient civilization which had threatened, and eventually been destroyed by, the very Life Force of Earth. They had constructed Mothra as their guardian deity, to which the Earth Life Force had responded with Battra?a "Black Mothra" (as described in Godzilla vs. Mothra) or "Battle Mothra" (as described in the Super Godzilla video game manual). In addition to accompanying Mothra, the Cosmos would also ride smaller offspring called Fairy Mothras. Mothra would reprise the role of ancient guardian, though with only a passing homage to the Cosmos, in Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack.
The shobijin's famous song "Mosura No Uta" ("Mothra's Song") was written in Malay, though the shobijin often sing Japanese approximations to the original lyrics.[4] Other verses and entirely new songs (in Japanese) have been added by various composers over Mothra's film history. The shobijin have also been portrayed by Pair Bambi (Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster) and Megumi Kobayashi and Sayako Yamaguchi (the Mothra Trilogy) |
this good enough??
