"In a Corner" aka "Katasumi" & "4444444444"

Two horror shorts (although often treated as one short in two parts) made by director Takashi Shimizu of the Ju-On fame, serving as a prequel to the later Ju-On saga. Not to spoil them too much (for those few people who haven't yet seen them ;)), In a Corner/Katasumi tells the story of two schoolgirls' "adventure" with the well-known house and 4444444444 is a story about a young man and his cell phone.

IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330312/ (note that this is for the entire 70 minutes long "Gakkô no kaidan G" TV anthology, which included them both as well as several other related shorts)

As of now both have ~15 sources among each other (ie some A4AF is needed).

Both are high resolution with a high bitrate (yes, the ~10000 is exactly what GSpot gave me), I suspect ripped from the Unrated Director's Cut of The Grudge DVD.

SYNOPSIS
--------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Shimizu on his short films:

In 1998, I was working as an assistant director on both film and
video productions. I was also taking a night class in film
production where the teacher turned out to be Kiyoshi Kurosawa
(the director of CURE and KAIRO, and the executive producer of
JU-ON the movie). He gave us the assignment to make a 3 min short
from an original script. It turned out that Kurosawa like my film
very much, maybe because it was horror and that was to his taste.

Actually, it's never been my intention simply to make horror films.
I mean, I like horror films, but I had no real ambitions to make
them before this assignment.

Eventually, Kurosawa introduced me to a producer at Kansai-TV who
was producing a 90 min. feature for television. The title was Gakko
no Kaidan G (School Ghost Story G). G is supposed to mean "Great".
Maybe the producer came up with the title to compete with Dragon
Ball Z, I don't know (laughs). It was going to be a horror
anthology and I was assigned to write and direct.

But because I had no previous professional directorial experience,
the producer had no confidence in me. I wrote many scripts for 30
minute segments but the producer asked me to direct two and to cut
them down to 3 minutes. I wondered, how can I scare the audience
in so short a time (laughs)? But those two short segments that I
made are actually the foundations of JUON. They lay out the basic
premise of the curse and it is almost like the true prequel of the
story.

230 mega for a 3 minute short? :o

I would download them if their sizes were smaller... 10 times, for example. ;)

However better something than nothing. Shimizu's fans will be pleased. I'll wait for another rip.

Both completed and verified now, can be moved wherever the mods decide it's appropriate (either HQ Section or Misc Releases or wherever).

It's indeed a huge ass size for just two 3 minute shorts (judging from it, they could be 2/3s of a The Grudge Extras release or whatever, sadly I've no idea who ripped it and when/where was it released). GSpot still gives out an incredibly high bitrate and combined with the really high resolution, they look more like 1:1 DVD copies than DVDRips...

Will post screens and updated GSpot specs later today.

Shimizu Takashi fans, enjoy :googley:
