Read the entire first post. Be careful with the noise filters, you don't want to loose any detail :)

Got it up and running (encoding right now).

At first it was unable to find mt_edge. After lots of screwing around with the script I found out I had an old version of avisynth. Sometimes actually reading those readmes is not a bad idea at all. :wacky:

Anyway, I'm encoding on 2,66 Ghz and it's SLOW... damn.

If its slow, that means its doing some work, which can either mean its working hard to make it look better, or its stealing your identity and wiping your hard drive :wacky:

Annoying, isn't it?

I sure hope it's not the latter. Shit, that reminds me of that crappy Sandra Bullock movie, what's it's title again?
Last I checked it was at ~4% of the first pass btw - after more than an hour of encoding. :wacky:

You can say that again. :) And when and where did you post that? You should have fucking warned me. :D

That was... THE NET... Duh! Thats the ultimate thriller! :wacky:

Besides the basic GK filters (above in v-man's post), I always used removegrain mode=2 on older/vhs sources, with good results. I can sacrifice some bits/pixel for better motion anyday, so I hate blotting it too much (unless you're doing portable-size, ie movie=350mb 320x240, then its great!). I have never had great success with temporal smoothing outside the default parameters. Any advice on how/why to use that?

This remains a very informative thread... especially since the title is Return of the Living Dead 3!

I can't wait to see what this function does to the rip. It's still gonna take some time though. If it doesn't come out ok I can either tweak the settings and wait another 48 hours or maybe try one of V-Man filters instead (assuming they're faster).
Damn, I need faster computers. :)

I know but the stuff I'm using is slowing it down BIG TIME. That's not too much of a problem though, I can be patient. :)

6 hrs is a tad 1click/newbie-esque in terms of ripping speed i find. If you've got a rig killing script, its going to do what it says on the tin and kill your rig.

It's finally finished (44+ hours). For some reason the screen doen't look as good as the rip itself, so here's a sample.

ed2k: RotLD3.sample-Rogue.avi  [5.27 Mb] [Stats]

Let me know what you think.

And here's the script, if you wanna know more about the function, check Spuds post with the link to d9 on the previous page.

video-man, its hq_filter(), as with any good noise removal it does noise removal/smoothing then sharpening.
