How about some new T-Shirts, each with one famous quotation from a horror movie on the back.

So it would look like this:

Horror Has A Home
www.dead-donkey.com

"HERE'S JOHNNY." - Jack Torrance in The Shining (1980)

So that everyone could have a different T-Shirt with a quotation from his/her own favorite movie. :wacky:

I'll see what i can do with the shop, as I mentioned in the first post, you can make up your own t-shirt @ spreadshirt, and if you use the Dead-Donkey logo its got $8 associated with it which goes to the site. I'll see if i can work something out with the store.dead-donkey.com

Hello, you might have noticed there's a couple of ads up on the frontpage (or not if you use a blocker). I have put them on the most resource intensive pages, namely:
Viewing a news post:
http://www.dead-donkey.com/modules/news ... ies&id=390 (beneath the content, above the comments)

At the bottom of the shares index:
http://www.dead-donkey.com/modules/shar ... ion=movies (beneath the content)

Beneath a movie entry:
http://www.dead-donkey.com/modules/shar ... ies&id=818 (beneath the content)

and probably the most intrusive:
http://www.dead-donkey.com/search.php (above and below the search)

I didn't like putting those on, but i think that about covers it.

For those interested, they've been up for 3 or 4 days and made $1, not much at all frankly and it will take a while for a payout but that's ~$10 off hosting a month.

edit: scratch that, $2 now

I'd be interested in a keyring :D

Re the Google ads. They are very picky and if they see the same ip clicking ads they won't pay you and you'll get banned.

Amazon, don't they only pay if someone buys something after clicking through?
You could have a seperate page with Amazon so it wasn't in your face, maybe a link at the top of the page or something, just clicking through to the horror dvds or something. I think some peeps here buy from Amazon, so if they used your clickthrough you'd get some money back.

Just a coupla thoughts.

yes, they only payout if someone buys something.

Indeed they are, I wouldn't encourage clicking for the sake of it and haven't done myself. I want to make it clear, i'm not encouraging click-throughs as as you say they will likely refuse to pay out if they see the same ips doing that. :(

Things like that I will put up on a seperate subdomain, store.dead-donkey.com with a list of ways to help out.

Obviously the best way to support the site is still to post content; posting a release, review or collection, or if you are interested helping out with frontpage news collation. IMO those are the best easy things a member can do to help the site out :)

Yes, I imagine they will analyse the ip data and refuse to pay. I wouldn't recommend clicking it to help the site out, certainly not if your static ip based.
Encouraging clicks gets you booted...

great i needed someone to test it, you uncovered that the paypal address was wrong (fixed now) and it seems to have put through two orders which was strange (completely different times too).
I'll have to play the 'shop' software, it isn't the best made software from a hci point of view but it has all the required functionality somewhere

lol, well i have strategicly placed googleads on the site, but unfortunately they are quite harsh on click promotion and ip tracking. We are just about coming up to a pay off which will cover an entire months hosting so they have been useful and hopefully not intrusive. :)
