Hello,
You might have noticed you still can't type dead-donkey.com into an address bar and land on this site without a hosts file entry. Unfortunately this rather simple thing has been royally cocked up by the domain name registrar we are using for the domain. They seem incapable of making this change, or reporting exactly what the problem is. I have been trying all week for them to bypass their shoddy frontend, manually log into their reseller account and make the change. I have also been trying to bypass them and get the company they have a reseller account with to make the change on their behalf. Its all rather sad.
I'm trying a desperation move of hosting nameservers on another box I own, then asking nicely the support people to remove / change the A and www A records so i can 'offshore' my nameservers... hopefully the nameservers they have will be accepted by the shoddy registrars software. i have this nagging feeling their crap software won't accept - in domain names or something infinitely retarded.
Anyway, apologies I'm trying hard to get the change through but these incompetants have really messed it up for us. The migration, apart from this was really, really fast... its a shame there's always a week link in the chain.
Once this issue is addressed, I can fix the other outstanding tasks:
- imageshack has boned us; i have a script that will relocate images to a site, but i need dns back for this really.
- There's been a few more reports of search being blocked for 30 seconds on the first search... I'm wondering if this is due to the &lowres=true mode. If you happen to get the problem, please check your search bar and let me know what it says. Also wait 30 seconds and hit F5, and see if the search goes through then.
- porting over of the minor subdomains
