I spliced this together from a French dubbed DVDRip (2.368:1, DivX5, 25fps) I got via eMule a couple of years ago, and the SAPHiRE release (1.333:1 Pan&Scan, DivX3LM, 23.976fps), also downloaded via ed2k (which took a meagre 640 days.. ). A simple framerate change to 23.976fps on the video, and a delay on the audio did the trick - audio/video sync is perfect all the way through. While the widescreen rip is undercropped left and right, the following screens should make clear why I decided to post this hybrid, instead of the original SAPHiRE release: SAPHiRE, 1.333:1 (P&S): French 2.368:1: SAPHiRE, 1.333:1 (P&S): French 2.368:1: SAPHiRE, 1.333:1 (P&S): French 2.368:1: The widescreen rip has a lot more picture left & right, and overall superior picture quality, despite the high-ish res and neglected side-cropping. Also, the SAPHiRE rip has some picture errors, most likely scratches on the DVD's source (see third pair of screens). ed2k: The.Frightening.2002.DVDRip.DivX5.avi [700.04 Mb] [ Stats] Thanks to the unknown French ripper and SAPHiRE, for their respective releases.

Hmm.. I think most rips tagged as "DVDMux" are DVD video plus VHS/TV audio - usually a dub, done for films for which the desired dubbed track is not available on DVD. I assume this is the reason you mostly see sections dedicated to such work in non-English forums. The above... 'creation' is DVD video + DVD audio, so DVDMux would be misleading. The only difference between this and a regular DVDRip is, video and audio are from different source DVDs. Seeing that nothing was re-encoded (both video framerate conversion and timeshift are lossless processes), both video and audio are DVDRip quality, nothing less. However, thanks for the input, weezee - if a mod decides to change this to DVDMux, I won't have a problem with it.

I'm not sure what the policy is on "DVDmux". I don't understand this: weezee wrote: | I've done many muxes, I always use DVDmux tag, no matter the audio source. |
so ALL your rips have the DVDmux tag?

Nope, my MUXES have DVDmux tag. I often add italian audio track to non-italian movies that were released in Italy at theater/TV/SAT/VHS but not on DVD. For example, Near Dark is a widely known movie, it was released at cinema and broadcasted on TV, but was never released on DVD in Italy, so I got an english DVDrip and added italian audio track from satellite and made it dual language. Some other times I only leave italian track because the DVDrip itself I've found is already dubbed in a non-original language. In either cases, they are DVDmux, a.k.a. movies built together from parts of different sources, of which the video is from DVD. If I use a SATrip as video source and add a different audio track, I tag it SATmux.

This is in English; the video is from the French widescreen DVD, the (original English) audio from the SAPHiRE release.
