Strengths: Very Light Weight. Opens fast, runs fast. Generally very unobstructive in its clean design. The search-in-page functionality is great as it highlights in the right scroll bar where in the page you have matches. Using the address bar for searches is also very convenient.

Weaknesses: There are some sites that are not compatible with Chrome and don't render correctly. There is no way to prevent closing ALL tabs when clicking the 'Close' icon in the top right by accident. Every other browser presents a warning screen when closing multiple tabs because it is very frustrating to have 20 tabs open and then to lose work because you close the window by accident. The 'restore' functionality is useful for static pages, but with modern web-based applications it does not actually restore the application back to where you were. Third party addon support is still under development and not available in the stable version. This also means that there is a very limited number of 3rd party addons...

Overall: It is a really great browser overall. It is usually a pleasure to use. However, I just can't give it anything above a 3 due to the frustration I feel when I lose all my tabs when accidentally closing the browser. This weakness alone makes me switch back to firefox for at least a week after it happens.

The beta version is great, no problems here. Mind, I only have Flash Block installed. I uninstalled FireFox ages ago, and don't miss it at all.

chrome i use nearly always, i have firefox installed for firebug and diagnostics; i don't like google's error messages, for example if you get a server that refuses connections vs one that establishes and immediately drops firefox differentiates with connection refused and connection terminated. ie is on there to reporduce bugs.

Same here - Chrome beta latest for main use - IE and FF for web site layout diagnostics. I've yet to discover any problems with Chrome that affect me personally.

Chrome has just been usurped by not firefox in itself, but by the greatest plugin known to man. I saw someone at work, browsing without a mouse and asked what he was using. There's no address bar, etc. so it was a big wtf moment.

Firefox + vimperator plugin! Holy crap this is awesome... it basically overlays vi over firefox, and you can navigate without a mouse. There's a command and insert mode just like vi. Simply pressing f will overlay a number over every link in the page, and you can rapidly navigate... all the vi commands are there like shift+g, 1+shift+G.

You can even press ctrl+i in an input box, and it will throw the post into gvim.

Sorry chrome, as much as i like you, you've been served.

you hit f, and then it overlays this so you either type the text of the link or hit one of the numbers.

One of my colleagues at work is also using this plugin.

I found it too different from what I am used to. I may have a look sometime.

Do you use vi?
Vi is older than god:

If you know vi, the learning curve is much lower, if you don't... you'll struggle.

Check this out for a feature request:

You have to be at least that awesome to use it :)

Spambot bumped it but vimperator has been replaced by Pentadactyl. Brilliant browser war winning addon
