http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100369/This movie is aired this weekend on the Horror Channel (former Zone Horror). There is already a DVD rip available, but as far as I am familiar with Full Moon DVD releases it must be a shitty VHS transfer. Can anybody prove me wrong by posting some screenshots in the movie's thread over here? viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6410&start=0

You want me to bump an old 2004 thread only for sceenshots ? I prefer posting them here instead. I don't have the US Full Moon DVD, but instead I have the original Prism Leisure PAL R2 DVD, 4:3, DVD5, 93min. (1:32:50) at 25 fps, English 2.0 Stereo, No Sub. I though maybe it would be interesting, in case it could help you... But if you got it on TV, in HD, and you manage to get a copy, that would be great, a nice HD transfer, especially if it's Widescreen on top of that, i'll take it !

Thanks. That DVD actually looks good enough. The TV broadcasting is not in HD. I'll skip this then.

Well, at least if it's in Widescreen it could worth it, no ? or maybe the US Full Moon DVD is Wide ? I don't know, but check it out this week end and see if it's wide...

I have the Full Moon DVD, and it certainly looks like a crappy VHS transfer. It has a lot of lfickering going on and heavy grain.
I'd say 1) rip it from TV anyaway or 2) rip it from EDI's disc.

I can rip my disc myself, i'm now pretty good with GK. Thanks to elchupacabra for his tips. But it will be with the XviD codec, I don't know anything about MKV. If a XviD, de-interlaced rip is fine with you both, i'll go with it. Btw, I think the DVD I have is the Rated version... IMDB say that it exist on both R Rated and Uncut version, but i'm just not sure... schnittberichte.com say that the Uncut version is 93min. 07sec. (I think they are using a PAL DVD) My PAL DVD from Prism Leisure is 92min. 50 sec. http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittb ... ID=2539185I guess it is cut then... or maybe not... If anyone know, please enlight me ! Slayer wrote: | I have the Full Moon DVD |
Could you please provide us with some screenshots to compare, please ? when you'll have some free time. Thanks man !

Well, I guess you just have to check if the scenes mentioned on schnittberichte.com are there in your version.

I took some snaps from PowerDVD. As you can see, my source is a lot shittier than yours, although I must say that it looked better when played with MPC (less saturation). My DVD is PAL too and it runs for 1:39:59, I'll explain: After the credits have ended, the music stops at 1:32:50 Between 1:33:20 and 1:36:09 you can look at a painting about the apocalyps, ilmed in close-ups. After that over 3 minutes of darkness follow. Just a black screen. Snaps. As you can see, I tried to take snaps from the same frames, but since I didn't really know which ones, some are a bit off. Some I couldn't find at all, so there are only four:

Damn ! I must admit, the Full Moon DVD is pretty shitty, indeed. Thanks for the info man, very appreciated ! So we both have the same cut, 1:32:50 then, very good to know ! And for the screenshots, don't worry, they are perfect like that. Btw, I used Nero ShowTime for capturing the screen. I'll try with MPC to see if it look better for me too. Well, looks like I might gonna get ready to rip my DVD Let's wait for this week what elchupa will come with, and let's see if there any interest for a DVDRip.

I'll have a look at the TV broadcast then. I however doubt that it will be widescreen and that the quality will be any better than EDI's DVD.

Judging by the technology here in Andalusia, this must be a futuristic sci-fi epic?

My friend captured this last night. I wanted to capture another movie, but Windows f*cked up the audio capture. All I can tell you right now is that it was a full screen broadcast.

Nice !
Well, the color on your rip is a little better, the picture is more 'orange' like, than mine which have a little more dark tone.
So it's like you want... you release your TVRip and/or I release my DVDRip. (I didn't apply any filter on mine, since I don't even know how and what is a filter and what does it do exactly !)

Are your images resized? Your screenshots have a resolution of 640x480 which is no valid DVD resolution. I guess it also has a resolution of 720x576 like the images I posted. Is that correct?
I believe that in this case we should take the DVD. The colours look more solid (not as orange as in the TV capture) and there is no watermark present. Sat captures tend to be blocky at dark scenes too. The DVD also has no ads and is thus easier to rip.

Well yes, the rip I made is in 640x480. Since the DVD is fullscreen, in GK, I choosed the setting PAL / PAL Non Anamorphic (4:3) / Crop : Auto Crop, and after I choosed the Pixel setting, cause in Small Crop, it was missing too much picture on the side. It gave me this .avi, in 640x480. Can't tell more than this. Is there a way, a setting to keep the 720x576 ? Here's a screenshot to compare the DVD and the rip I made : PAL DVD Prism Leisure : DVDRip in XviD : Bonus screenshot of my DVDRip : Hope that will help...

It could be that the rip is not needed. I don't know the quality of the DVD rip that already exists (by DxaKrator).
I would crop 2 more lines of pixel at the top. 640x480 is fine with me.

How do I do that ? I realized that there's a little 'problem' on the top, yeah. Do I have to redo everything from the .vob ? Or I can use the .avi I already have ? elchupacabra wrote: | It could be that the rip is not needed. I don't know the quality of the DVD rip that already exists (by DxaKrator). |
Agree. I don't have the DxaKrator rip, so I can't tell, but if someone have it, please post screenshot to compare...

On the resolution screen you select "Pixel" in the cropping fieldset and use the arrows to crop as you wish. You have to start from the VOB. You could use the AVI too, but it has only disadvantages.
