This show jumped the shark years ago, are people still keeping up with this? Got to maybe 6x02, 6x03 and there doesn't appear to be an arch.

Not sure if I count as people, but I am . The entire show was designed and written as a complete story that would last 5 seasons (and then end - definitively and for real), so the 6th is in fact sort of cobbled together. There are however several subplots that are developing slowly. In fact 6x07 had seen a couple of them resolved.
Spoiler: |
Like why is Sam acting so strange (that one though was obvious from far away), who raised him and grandpa Skinner, what is grandpa after and why, who is really calling the shots, why is cousin Campbell so hostile, where do the creatures go when they die etc.
|
Still no sharks though .

Not sooooo bad. But they really should have let it end with season 5.

I really like supernatural. I think the show has the potential to be much better from now on after that fricking horrible story about teh end of the world is over. I much prefer this season to the last 2.. but it still hasn';t gotten to the hights of teh 1st 2 season when it was just so fun and light hearted.

Some generally positive views then, that's pretty surprising, I've seen up to 6x03 and they should have cancelled it a few seasons back. Its story was never particularly good and it just got silly towards the end. I think they even had an episode called "Jump the Shark". I can't help but think of it like a shit x-files, the monster episodes in xfiles were always so much better. Its not a fair comparison of course, this series couldn't stand a chance, but ultimately i just can't sit through 45mins of this show any more. I always walk off or use my laptop Ah well, let me know if there's a decent episode this season and I might pick this back up.

Its got a bit better now actually, but i certainly think that shedding some of the fat would reduce the series down to maybe 3 seasons.

you know, i watched some more... the mythos changes so much. They've got a pretty neat idea of "firsts", ie. first vampire, first werewolf, etc. going on which is refreshing, The angel stuff doesn't seem as gay too.
I dunno, its all over the place, but hell i'm still watching.

yeah saw it, whilst I like that they do some parody/nods, X-Files kicks their collective asses There's a good test, name one episode of Supernatural that stands out (baring in mind its an active series), right, now name at least one episode of X-Files that stands out. Kudos for re-adjusting the story though, that's just about saved this season.
