Well after reading last year saw whopping profits for the 'dead' PC, I've just checked steam and there looks to be a woft of decent games coming out this year.

I've just dropped £90 on:

Shogun 2

Sounds like Creative Assembly managed to brick the game very quickly with a patch but hell, the games are just so damn fun.

Portal 2

First game was superb, and this is longer and "better". I just played through the first again and its still fantastic.

Crysis 2

I have to say I *really* enjoyed the korean throwing first chapter of crysis before the aliens turned up. I'm dissapointed to here they've probably crippled the game for the consoles, that's a shame.

Anything else coming up on the PC this year? I've noticed a lot of watered down games, and I've got some concerns about the sequel to a personal favourite of mine, American McGee's Alice.

I see that its also coming to console; have they watered down the game play? I remember enjoying Battlefield 1942, but I don't really go for modern era-american-hoo-rar style shooters unless they've got an angle. The ending to Call of Duty Black Ops gave me diabetes.

i must agree with you there spud, battlefield 1942 and rc wolfenstein, medal of honor was great games to.. i always liked the old war games from 1940s with german, english, japanes, russian thing. but these games have been done to death now days i guess... so we only have these new modern warfare games that i dont like at all. i can just put on the news on the telly or see it live streaming from the internet. so i have no interest to play that shit in my freetime.

at the moment i have no games that i am looking forward to play on the pc, but keep posting spud maybe i find one :)

That had watered down the gameplay for BFBC2 a bit IMO, as in no prone and jets, but with BF3 they reinstalled the proning, flying jets and 64 player maps.
For me most important factor why I like the BF series that much is good squadplay, helping out squadmembers, reviving/giving ammunition, spotting, etc. Next to that
it looks stellar IMO and the maps are real fun to play.

Edit:
I dont enjoy playing CoD so I must agree there

Portal is out tomorrow ... yay!

Here's another game that looks cool, although the guns look a bit naff:

Looks a bit consoley controls though, which sucks ass.

Crysis 2 was pretty decent, but I preferred the korean troop bits and open landscapes of the first. The aliens are *much* better in Crysis 1. Game is dumbed down for consoles.
Shogun 2: Total War is masterful, really highly recommended.

Every game in this thread apart from Shogun 2 and Portal 2 is a native console game, ported to PC, and out of the 2 left, portal 2 is on consoles... and release b4 the pc version.

Shogun being the best game out this year, yup. Luckily they are all still far, far better on the pc, cheaper too.

just read there will be more duke nuke'em, coming... hopefully better than the the dnf crap... gearbox can make games just look at borderlands.. i guess the good game play got lost after so many game companies the game did go thru before release..

i played alot of duke nukem forever, even managed to get 1000 xbox points on it,.. i didnt think it was as bad as wat most reviews thought, but whilst playing it it always felt like prey,
i dunno why as prey was IDTEch 3 and this game was unreal engine, to me it looks like the game passed through many engines and when handed to gearbox, well all gearbox did was to
add the driving levels and recompile it in unreal engine so it would be easier to port over to the ps3.....

game was ok..had all the humour from duke 3d, was fun :)

but i wont play it again EVER LOL!

currently finishing off splaterhouse, only need 1 chevo on it :D plus it has alot of booobs!!...(maybe thats why i liked duke forever) :prat:
