A terrible, slow, buggy, and non-intuitive program. In other words: Pure crap.

I tried to use it in Linux. 64bit and 32bit. As software developer I certainly don't have the slowest machines, but the XBMC mouse pointer hardly moved. On 64bit the UPnP support was broken. The stupid thing listened on 127.0.0.1 for broadcast messages. On Linux this problems seems to be fixed, my partner, who uses a crapple, still has this problem. The user interface... ok, this is a matter of taste, I don't like it.

I love my old black X1 with unleashX, Media Center and lot of emulators (Neo Geo, Amiga 500, SNES and more . . .) + dual shock 2!

i use it on a revo, its excellent and very innovative. I don't use a mouse, why would you want to on a media center? plug and play worked fine, etc.

Last year I built an HTPC for a friend using Ubuntu 32bits and XBMC on old hardware. He didn't have a remote control at first and the mouse was indeed slow. We upgraded just the video card to a very cheap CUDA/VDPAU capable Nvidia card and the problem was solved. Back then it seemed to be a bitch to get hw acceleration (specifically with x264 high def in mind) from ATI (Linux), that's why we chose Nvidia.

Anyway, I think XBMC works best with a remote control.

I have a nvidia card. Plus the official nvidia drivers. So that should not be the problem. And why do I want to use it with a mouse? I am not interested in the xmbc as media center. I use it only to test my UPnP code.

I really don't know. Anyway, for me it works perfectly with VPAU on a small media center; watching mostly 1080p and never have any problems with interface, speed, etc. installing it was a bit of a pain, but i was compiling from sources so to be expected to be a little more involved.
