I don't get it. "Out of the equation"? You mean: if I don't restart the router but I do restart the PC?

OK, in that case: no cigar, as both are the same machine. And I can't possibly keep my modem out of the equation, now can I?

Any way for you to isolate it to either the pc or modem/router?

No, but the modem/router is one and the same machine. It has several ports, of which two are available for PCs.

I found out what it was: my gf and I are both on the same modem/router. For some weird reason, our IP's got switched last Friday. Our internet connection got lost during Friday and after I rebooted the modem/router, it returned. The only thing was that eMule gave me a low ID since then. So I guess my IP was changed. I just changed some, and after having tried one time, it worked. I have a high ID again, which makes me a little happier. Now I only have to solve my IDE hardware trouble.

If you have the ability, I'd set the modem/router to assign a specific ip to the mac address of your computer so it won't happen again.

It did happen again, it changed the IPs back.
I checked the settings of the modem/router, but couldn't find anything about assigning specific IPs to PCs. Should I try to do it from the PC, by changing dynmaic IP to static IP in Network Properties?

Yes, that would be the another solution.
But I'm almost sure that your router can do static DHCP leasing. What router are you using?

It's one with the name of my provider on it. I'm not sure how to find out what the typenumber is.

What about the bottom of the router or your contract? You could try searching the internet for it.

Had the same problem just now, caused by a providerside connection loss. I tried the following:
Changing to static IP didn't work. Changing the IP didn't work at first either. Restarting the PC didn't work. Then I added a second virtual server, relocating eMule to both IP's I have had in the past. Restarted the router. Still nothing. Restarted the PC a second time and now it is working.
So my guess is: when my connection gets lost, there might be a chance that my IP gets changed. Next time I will restart both the router and the PC and then it will work, probably.

Because his router has no static DHCP leasing feature.

Hi all, I'm back with the same problem. My wifi lost connection, so I had to restart my modem. After that, my wifi got fixed, but my ID went to low. I did the usual: - reset settings as below on the screenshots - restart PC Here is my setup on my modem/router: The portnumbers are the same as in my Connection Tab in eMule. Didn't work, so I restarted the modem again, and did the settings thing again and restarting the PC too. When that didn't work either, I did the three restarts, just to make sure. No dice. So now I'm kind of lost. Any ideas how to get my high ID back? Do I need to change my IP adress? Is something wrong with the ports?

Is your local IP address 192.168.1.6? Are 10879 and 9879 the ports configured within eMule?

Yes, the ports are the ones which I put in my connection tab as clientports. Weird thing is that in the past 6 months it worked fine, until I had to restart my modem. Not sure about my local IP, maybe this helps: Thanks for helping me out
