To celebrate my comeback, I had to rip an Italian stuff :wacky:

This one is not really good one but to me, it has to be seen, only to get a better understanding of what I'd call Fulci's 'cinematographic opportunism' ... his incredible way of jumping from one genre to another following the fashion of the moment...

BTW don't be surprised by the particular image of the movie, because it seems Fulci used some kinda blurring filter all through the film to give it a special aura :lol:

On the list of Lucio Fulci films I have not seen this one is #1. I always thought it was so... un-Fulci-like

Its pretty much an Italian thing. They all bounced from genre to genre. Only the truly established direcotrs like Argento had the opportunity to follow their own passion. And, even he had to proive himself writing and co-directing westersn adn war movies.

Ok, suddenly I have a huge doubt: when I ripped the movie, I had to make a few tries before getting the final version because I often got artefact compressions and I couldn't find out what I did wrong. Then, I managed to get a right version of it - the one I released. But I've tried to watch this same version on my laptop today with some friends, and actually, those damn artefacts were back :evil:

I guess it's just that I have some problems with my codec, because I had to reinstall everything on my laptop while I did the rip on my old computer at home. But if someone could just make a preview of my file and confirm that there's nothing wrong with it, I'd be relieved !...

Should be easy to find out, because it looks terrible right from the first seconds of the movie with big green stuffs all other ...

could it be to do with your deinterlace method? I found that the best PAL deinterlace method (see the sticky in the higher quality section @ scifi.dead-donkey.com), was unfortunately doubling the number of source artifects as a by-product. I had to switch to field deinterlace.

Bad results as you described with newest Xvid. Using ffdshow libavcodec, no problems. Nothing to worry about.
