Some of my caps in which my name has been removed :matrix:

ed2k: (SAMPLE)-(Boris.Karloff)(Christopher.Lee).-.The.Crimson.Cult.-.(Jess).avi  [3.71 Mb] [Stats]
ed2k: (Boris.Karloff)(Christopher.Lee).-.The.Crimson.Cult.-.(Jess).avi  [689.35 Mb] [Stats]

ed2k: (SAMPLE)-(Peter.Cushing.-.Christopher.Lee).-.The.Skull.-.(Jess).avi  [5.66 Mb] [Stats]
ed2k: (Peter.Cushing.-.Christopher.Lee).-.The.Skull.-.(Jess).avi  [695.54 Mb] [Stats]

I dont mind renaming, I just think its a bummer when my name is removed alltogether. Especially on rare stuff like this

A bit of constructive criticism If you don't mind.

You forgot:
The Year
The Source

Way more important than the actor's names (IMO that flat out is a waste of space in a filename).

Try using group tags and including:
Title.Year.SOURCE.CODEC-Ripper

First three parts are the most important,
Title, year and source.

Out of them three you only included one. I think the removal of details come from when the user is forced to edit the file anyway, so you should strive to keep them neat, condense and to the point. If there isn't stuff that people are going to remove, they tend to leave the tags... or so I think that's what I've noticed from using p2p.

Avoid brackets of all kinds, avoid infact all forms of punctuation particularly none standard ones. IMO info that just flat out isn't needed in a filename is actor and director, you know this anyway, if your insterested in the movie via search, you know the movie, if you find it in a forum, that's the place to put the info... its just filename bloat.

From title and year, you can find every scrap of info on the movie, simply by going to IMDB.

Source is most useful for people doing blind emule searches, shows them what to expect.

Codec is kind of pointless, but its nice to have their.

Proper is good to show that the version is the best available.

Cut status is a good one, but only put in if the movie is well known for having many cuts, or it is censored but not commonly known (the latter promotes more hands trying to track down an uncensored version ;) ).

The ripper name comes in after, and if you got the above, and nothing else, I've noticed it hardly ever goes.

not so much info, as observation... ;)

Trial and error amongst other things.

I'm one that stresses this also. If more people named things properly it would definately curb some of the renaming/tagging that goes on. I know some guys hate the periods in between the words but it looks a hell of lot better than all them brackets and other shit in there.

The periods imo are more preferable to spaces... but that's a personal thing. I'd say that the period space thing is in their favour. Since the problem with the spaces relates to word wrapping in OSs.

:o :o :o

Just saw this over at the Zaerc tracker...

Pranks.VHSRIP.GrimRippers.avi (aka "the dorm that dripped blood ) 1981 606.49 MB

I thought that it was strange that somebody could accidentally retag a Paul-scream rip for a GrimRippers rip, and the GrimRippers website was down, but I still have a program called "GrimViewer" that they had to view their releases. A search for "Pranks" brought this up.

<Entry>
<MovieID>16</MovieID>
<Title>Pranks </Title>
<Making>1981</Making>
<Release>2003-06-02</Release>
<VideoCodec>DivX 4</VideoCodec>
<VideoBitrate>?</VideoBitrate>
<AudioCodec>MP3</AudioCodec>
<AudioBitrate>~128 kbps</AudioBitrate>
<Genre>Horror</Genre>
<Source>VHS</Source>
<Aspect>4:3</Aspect>
<Resolution>640x480</Resolution>
<FPS>25.00</FPS>
<Ripper>Blackthrash</Ripper>
<Subs>None</Subs>
<IMDB>http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082279/</IMDB>
<Runtime>81 minutes</Runtime>
<Size>606 mb</Size>
-
<Info>
AKA
Death Dorm
Dorm That Dripped Blood, The

Joanne, Patty, Brian, and Craig prepare the old dorm building to be torn down. They are pursued by a serial killer with a wide range of murder methods, ranging from power drill to industrial steam cooker. Is it that spooky weird guy John Hemmit killing off the incidental characters, or is it someone/thing even more terrifying?

</Info>

Paul's specs (Oct. 14, 2003)

Specs
[misc]
Size: 606 MB (or 621,046 KB or 635,951,104 bytes)
Length: 01:21
No of CDs: 1

Codec: Divx4
Bitrate: 907 kb/s
Width: 640

FPS: 25.000

[audio]
Codec: MPEG Layer 3
Bitrate: 128 kb/s (64/ch, stereo) CBR

It LOOKS as though Paul_Scream22, took a Grimrippers rip, retagged it and released it as a PS_22 rip.

IF he did, that's pretty fucking low IMHO

I don't think we can come to a certain conclusion unless we know the exact bitrate and exact filesize of Grimrippers rip. You know, 640x480 is normal for a 4:3 movie and DivX4 was being used by lot those days.

Code:
Codec: Divx4
