| The DarkSide Video Nasties Book 2 |  | The Video Nasties List. For 20 years now this symbol of the end of the golden era of British video has been the checklist for horror fans worldwide as boot sales and film fairs were scoured in an attempt to see them all. But as any horror fan living in the UK in the early to mid 1980's can tell you, the list was just the tip of the iceberg. In these more enlightened times it may seem strange but such mainstream titles as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Exorcist, Death Wish, Straw Dogs and Dawn of the Dead disappeared from the shelves, along with much-loved classics such as Suspiria and City of the Living Dead, missing presumed banned.
Newspapers and magazines published often-inaccurate versions of the Nasties List, along with the above titles Blood For Dracula, Superstition, Maniac, Zombie Holocaust, Mark of the Devil... The list goes on. Depending on whereabouts in the country you lived your choice of viewing materials varied; Manchester, under the jurisdiction of James Anderton, saw more films clobbered at an early stage than most areas, but with the advent of the VRA (Video Recordings Act) unrated videos were soon cleared from the shelves, only to emerge years later in a form more mutilated than any of their victims.
In 2001, following their successful "Video Nasties" book, the UK genre magazine The Dark Side published "Video Nasties 2", a misleading title as few of these movies were picked up by the British media as nasties (Cannibal and I Drink Your Blood spring to mind as titles that were), and none of the titles mentioned above were listed. In fact a quick glance at the sleeves suggests that it was the artwork rather than the film which deemed a video suitable for inclusion. But to the collector it is nonetheless a fascinating book, to those of us who remember this era it is like a nostalgic trip to an eighties video shop albeit one packed full of those titles that lay gathering dust, unloved and unwatched.
The rarity of this collection means it may never be completed but for the true horror fan looking for "the rarer the better", here it is, in all its g(l)ory.
Mainly though I have chosen the movies here more for their outrageous cover art than their individual merit or notoriety, and I have also gone for movies that don't turn up in any horror guides, real obscurities like Death Bed, which has no credits at all, and Suffer Little Children, which was shot just down the road from me - on a bog-standard camcorder! It's hard to believe that films like these could ever get released, but incredibly they did!

So she chains him up in her basement, drugs him, and forces him to watch her having sex. Carlo starts hallucinating all kinds of bloody horrors and cannibalistic doings, so he decides he has to break free and kill Emanuelle. |

This movie has a great atmosphere, graphic special effects makeup (for the time) and a wonderful soundtrack. If anything is lacking, the ending seems a bit rushed. I recommend the VHS version that Something Weird released a few years back. It is struck from an immaculate print and contains the European version of the movie-this includes a brief topless shot (unfortunately not of Barbara Steele but she does emerge from her bath in a subsequent tantalizing scene.) The Alpha Video DVD release is taken from a rather scratchy print and is minus the nudity but is available for less than $6.00. This Italian shocker would be a welcome addition to any Euro film collection. |

Released on video in the UK on the obscure Portland Films label circa 1982, George Barry's mysterious, enigmatic 'Death Bed' is one of the most perverse, obtuse and difficult to rationalize features I've ever seen. |

That was hilarious. It was all for health reasons of course. The commander of the camp becomes infatuated with one of the prisoners. He wants her to love him. He goes through various romantic wooing ideas, (humiliation, solitary confinement), until she decides to leave a present in her vagina for him in the climax. |

Rotgut sexploitation that must be seen by anyone who loves tasteless sleaze films, "Evil Come Evil Go" had tongue lodged firmly in cheek, never once trying to retain seriousness or credibility. Over-the-top and nasty as all Hell, this one's recommended. |

| Review: A young woman is accused of murdering her debauched neighbor after dreaming it. Was she set up, or did she really do it?
Florinda Bolkan plays the daughter of a prominant English politician who keeps having recurring "nightmares" in which she makes love to a bisexual nympho who lives downstairs and conducts all-night LSD orgies. | Review: The Power Of The Devil In The Hands Of A Child
Unknown and indistinguished video notable mostly for being seized by the police hell bent on the perversion of justice. The police raided the distributors on the day after the video had been submitted to the BBFC. The BBFC had requested about 2m of cuts but somehow the police seemed to think that the uncut version was illegal and would not give the distributors the oppurtunity to implement the cuts that would make it legal. Then the DPP chipped in to the injustice by delaying the return of the film for 3 months, even though they later had to admit that there was no hint of child sex or extreme violence. Of course during this delay the distributors were almost driven to the point of bankruptcy. |

Terror Express is another entry into the Last House on the Left sub-genre that emerged in the 70s. To its credit its one of the more enjoyable films full of sleazy characters and a top-notch cast. Look out for Zora Kerova's double entry scene, the weirdo father who secretly wants to make love to his daughter, and Carlo De Mejo in an almost hardcore sequence involving the said daughter. Jesus how could anyone ever describe this film as dull? Not for the easily offended for sure but definitely one for the collection of any Italian horror-sleaze merchant. |

i have another rip of Bloodrage for a while now, think it was from crazymazey or dc++ (some of the swedish horror hubs have quit good stuff  ) either way i downloaded blodrage from here only to discover i had it already  ( but aint that a luxuaryproblem? :D)
as for SS girls: Thanks for the newsupdate on that release, didn't expect to see it show up on dvd any time soon, but definately one im going to buy! woaah!
