I imaging there'll be a couple of people with display or login problems, I had and someone else has already stated they had after the update.

I think its all working as should, but phpbb seems to always act up after a server update.

Anyway, follow this procedure, particularly if your on IE.
  • Delete your cookies, probably the smartest step to take... make sure you've got no conflicting cookies. Unfortunately you'll be logged out of all your sites (unless you delete all the cookies under "Dead-Donkey")
  • Hit Ctrl+F5, this will do a recursive refresh of the page and all the other links (ie style sheets, etc)
  • Make sure your firewall isn't filtering it (I made this mistake with kerio)

If you still encounter problems post here and i'll consult the phpbb people.

Sounds like you've got a problem with your setup.

This advice is one time only, you only need to clear your cookies once and then reboot firefox/ie/opera so you get a new one. I don't know why you'd have to delete cookies after a visit, if you mean you have to login each visit then a cookie isn't being saved. You need to make sure the old one is deleted (do it manually if need be), and then check that your not blocking one from being issued (check your av/firewall too). Alternatively, try click log out whilst logged in and then log back in again, i hear that sometimes works for cookie problems.

I get persistant logins for all three browsers after deleting cookies once in firefox (and I only had to do that because i login in whilst i was updating phpbb a few days back), so its a local problem from the phpbb2.0.20 update.

You will probably not have problems on a different browser / machine, if you've got tha ability to test, and you get the same problem let me know and i'll see if there's anything that can be causing it :)

Thanks Spud. :beerchug:

That's exactly what I did the first time around: manually delete the cookies, log in again to get e new one - on two different machines btw. I've repeated the prcedure on my primary machine and it seems to work for the time being. I'll let you know if I encounter further problems or if I find a definite solution.

yeah it was something to do with a session variable updated and the domain the cookie was using, didn't like forum.dead-donkey.com so i changed it to dead-donkey.com... that unofrtunately meant people with forum. in their cookie wouldn't stay logged in.

At least i think that's what it was.
