Why such a big rip?

Doesn't anyone make 1CD rips anymore?

I'll leave that for Dxa to explain, but you'll find now that a lot of rippers are doing 746MB (1/6th DVD) instead of 1CD and 1.46GB (1/3rd DVD) instead of 2CD rips.

702MB or 746MB doesn't matter to me - I use DVDr-s, like probably everyone here. I just don't understand why to waste 1.46GB on a VHSrip, since quality will be crappy anyway. I'm complaining beacause I have a download limit per month (to 16 GB only!).

one would suspect he doesn't want to add to the crappiness of the source by introducing the crappiness of compression artefacts :lol:

Personally, if its the difference between dropping below 512x to prevent the picture looking like a holiday shot from lego land windsor (which i would suspect is the case) and increasing the filesize, its probably a warranted size.

Even with vhsrips, if the source is relatively clear, its probably wiser to increase the filesize than have a low resolution.
