My thoughts exactly. But more like ~16 MB big. Falls well outside AFR.

Um, well heres the deal
I went to college then got to the pub in time to watch the 2nd half of the farce that was footy. After chucking 4 pints down my neck in 50 minutes i came home and decided to do said posting. Why i put advancedfilesize on the post is known only to my fuzzy brain and the landlord
I deleted the aforementioned standard when it was pointed out, i thought maybe the first 2 posts would be deleted after that because then they made no sense.
There you have it in all it's ugly glory, won't happen again

This filesize bitching is really starting to shrink my dick
It's AFR in my book.
Just burn it with one of Vman's recent AFR rips. Done.

You sony fanboys and your bluray media I don't care what sony tells you, they pre-rendered their version of the afr spec if it doesn't fit on a disc with afr movies then i don't see how it is (no matter how small your penis is ). Its a bit like a 716mb rip in many ways. Same goes for the unseen rip btw, they got a number of rippers under that umbrella, i guess one made a mistake Quote: | Just burn it with one of Vman's recent AFR rips. Done. |
Problem is, what if you don't want those particular ones? you can always pack a 900mb file with a 500mb file and split one, and then have a perfect 2cd release Its not catastrophic of course but its a mild annoyance, i imagine it was the same for people with +r only media doing the phantasm rips.
I don't burn many/any things to DVDr, but i still care about this stuff if you don't. I think it would be a same to let the new filesize concept die, the quality of the rips are better now i think, but there's some teething problems with aiming for the right filesizes which does pose problems.
In many ways there's no point resizing to fit dvdrs if the amount of space you use if you aren't aiming for anything, you might as well use quality based encoding instead of filesize based encoding which is nice in theory but i think that's just going to be an utter mess and a total shambles doing for that which will serverely effect the spread of rips on the network, in fact if your not aiming for it you might as well use 2cds then at least when if your not bothered they still fit on discs without similar sized rips. Its kind of dangerous infact, ripping for dvdr sizes without keeping it on track. takes me ages to get things on track sometimes but i feel its worth it, don't you?
Historically, at hhah, we used to havea rule where mis-sized rips were automatically in lower quality, ie. 800/900/etc. In fact i'm still weary of them ones since it seems to be an indication of a lack of QA. I'm sure if you search for "undersized" you'll find one of the topics where i, or someone else has moved it
That aside i'm still grabbing it
On an actual serious note for everyone else, maybe trim the credits and repack the audio so its something that's going to fit, then create a par set if you don't want to loose so many hashes/sources in terms of longevity? I fear you'll loose them when you come back to it later
Additionally, looking at the last shot, you didn't use any sharpening filters did you? maybe its my monitor but there's all sorts of distortion stuff going on in the background that looks like when there's an oversharpening problem. Is that there in the source material too?

The point was that if a respected AFR group in the home of AFR can label a 1.47GB rip as AFR, then how are the rest of us mere mortals supposed to conform? Sharpening, yes. That's just the focus of the camera in that scene. The print is pretty good for a movie of it's age, but it ain't like a Hollywood blockbuster.
