I learned of the existence of the remake when searching for the imdb link for this one. I don't have the 2001 movie, so opinions on which one is better are appreciated.

The remake is unrelated in fact. It's about a videogame creation that gets out of hand IIRC.

It's one of a series of TVM homages to '50s sci-fi & horror that use titles from that era.
