Independent B-Movie slasher adaption of Edgar Allan Poe's novel. Movie was shot in beautiful Schloss Neuschwanstein (Bavaria, Germany) and includes Sylvester "Sly" Stallone's brother Frank Stallone in its cast. Thanks goto RedVeil for digitally removing the scratches from the VHS cover.
:beerchug:
Note: Video contains a few minor video glitches (a bar moving from top to bottom) because of the source material's shape. It's nothing that should disturbe you, since it's very rare (3 - 4 times) and happens in uninteresting scenes anyway. Feel free to spread this rip and post it elsewhere, but please don't rename the file.

Fine post, although I already have this movie in italian language. Now what about this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097844/ ?
I remember I saw pictures of the 1989 version on Fangoria at the time and I was very surprised when I got the 1990 version, because I thought it was the same movie. Have you or anyone else ever seen it?

No I haven't seen it. That version looks like a remake of the original from 1964 with Vincent Price, which I must admit, haven't seen either. Even new VHS tapes of the one you are talking about are available at amazon.

This version posted is more like "Scream 1" from Wes Craven. It has a cloaked/masked slasher with a voice shifting device like in Scream and you don't know who's the murderer until the end. :wacky:

I found the trailer here: http://videodetective.com/titledetails. ... hedid=3068

Doesn't look any good, if you ask me. :)

Yes, possibly, nevertheless the trailer does not include any gore image: on fangoria I saw several bloody pics and I remember the Red Death looked really good. About the tape, it's NTSC (not to mention postage for Europe, which is more than the VHS price itself) and most likely protected. I can rip non protected VHS to DVD, but when I insert a protected one, the DVDrecorder refuses to start (I have one of those VHS/DVD-R combo).

How true.

I don't think it is protected. It's a rather old tape. I ripped my VHS tapes by connecting the output of the VCR to the computer. This way there is no protection that can disturb the capturing.

Yes, I know, but I don't have a video-capturing card, and the protected VHS's I have are just 2, so I will simply wait to find them in some other format and keep on using my DVDrecorder for the other tapes. Who knows, maybe those TV channels gigantibyte is ripping from will eventually show this movie.

Why? Bad quality? Aggressive Macrovision?

Oh well, since no other edition exists I think you should rip it. BTW you know how to play with levels and filters, don't you?

I know a bit and I know who to ask. :D The problem is the encoding time. It's going to take around 14 days to encode. :googley:

14 days???? :o
Aren't you a little too much demanding with quality? I think my most super extra ultra long encode did not reach 12 hours... You won't obatin a DVDrip from a VHS, why waste so much energy? BTW if you really wish to do it that way, it will be an interesting experiment.

I'll rip it for sure. I've already captured it. Converting to XviD is the next quest.

I think I'll wait for my new PC to finish (acutally I must buy it first ). Then encoding will be faster and in best quality. :)
