as for the AR... I'm not in film school and Fulci didn't hand me a notebook with his storyboard for this sadly... but the screenshot with the fulci face cut bottom and top and the top of the lady's head missing might be an indicative? or maybe it's nothing... but it can be bad AR (from the DVD), if someone compares this to another DVD release or a previous rip we might have an answer.

It is from the Shock DVD collection, I couldn't find anything on this one.

As for the AR: I asked in the rippers guide what to do (my first rip of this was with 1:66:1 but that one got seriously fucked up). People advised me to do a 4:3 non-anamorphic rip. So I did, and now the AR is better than when I stuck to the 1:66:1.

If you take a look at the eyes of Fulci, you can see their roundshaped form is quite OK, next to good.

As for the language: it is in English.

I know on the internet all you can find is 1:66:1, but as I said before, when using that AR the picture came out totally f*cked up. I'll post a VOB shot tomorrow.

What spud was trying to ask is: Did you only crop the black parts of the image?

I have a Dellamorte Dellamore DVD which is also 1.66:1 and I have no problem cropping it when I set it to 4:3 non-anamorphic source. If you did not overcrop and the AR of the DVD is 1.85:1 (which I seriously doubt) than the DVD would likely be 16:9 anamorphic and not 4:3. Now it looks like to me that the DVD is 4:3 non-anamorphic and has an ar of 1.66:1 (with some black parts at the top and bottom) and you overcropped it.

Yup, only some black lines.

VOB picture (note: when capping the frame, PowerDVD was in a more WS-like stretched form - Irfanview reshaped it into this)

I can see now that the WS rip like Dr P has it, has more lines above and under the central image. Unfortunately, my DVD hasn't

The rip I have is Full screen not WS Aspect Ratio: 640 x 480 (1.333 : 1)
you can really see the circle/oval difference between those screens :beerchug:

isn't dr.phibes screenshot from an open matte version? instead of a regular pan & scan? I'm sorry that's what you mean anyway

just noticed both have the same information on the sides, however the full frame version has considerably more of the plant on the top for example.
