Well, I can play it on my PC monitor, but I dislike sitting in front of my compuiter for 90+ mins. I'd rather watch it on my big flatscreen, like all rips and DVDs, but that's a problem with x264. And .mkv, btw. But the mkv thing could be solved by repacking, the x264 is "unsolvable". Or am I missing something?

Are we talking SA player compatibility?
Most media tanks play x264/mkv these days but IMO the best choice is always a HTPC.

Yes, but Slayer is - like I do - looking for a stand-alone player with CD/DVD/BluRay drive. Unfortunately there is no really decent model that can play all stuff I would like it to. There are some worth considering, but I'll rather wait a bit longer. x264 is not the problem. The problem is that there is no nice player as written above. In fact it is the exact opposite of what is happening with HDTV. There are hundreds of HDTVs available. But only a few channels broadcasting HD. There are a lot of x264 rips I would like to watch, but no decent players for it.

@elchupacabra, have you looked at popcorn hour c200? it has a build in blu-ray drive. And is pretty powerful. about 300 euro's afaik.
