Noche de las gaviotas, La (1975)
A.K.A : Blind Dead 4, The (1977) (USA), Don't Go Out at Night (1975) (UK) (video title), Night of the Blood Cult (1975), Night of the Death Cult (1975), Night of the Seagulls (1977) (USA), Terror Beach (1975) (video title)

Synopsis :
This, the last film of the Blind Dead quartet, starts off so promisingly that it literally creates goosebumps, not only with its creepy atmosphere but the expectation of delights to come. Set in the Middle Ages when the Templars were still not damned with being undead, this beginning sequence effectively shows that whether alive or dead the Templars can send the fear of God--or rather, the Devil--into one's soul. The requisite female sacrifice shown here (with a ripped-out heart and flesh feast for crabs, no less!) highlights de Ossorio's mastery of sadistic/erotic horror, a distinction that has made many of his films infamous among cineastes in the know. Once into the film proper, however, the excitement lessens, as de Ossorio is fettered with trying to blend some novel poetic nuances into by-now predictable scripting and directing. The black-garbed sacrificial procession trudging along the white beach makes for a stunning visual, and idea of the souls of dead girls inhabiting the mournful seagulls that hover over the nights of bloody sacrifice touches the right romantic cords, but the slow-motion Blind Dead tend to look too familiar already. (Familiar, indeed! In the "rising-from-the-tombs" sequence we get re-used shots from the first film!) Though the setup to their arrival is done really well, they visually come on the scene too early. Holding back their appearance another reel would have given the film more eerie suspense, something it needs during its step-by-step evolution. Interestingly enough, the most wicked sequence is the first one when the Templars were still flesh and bone, which inadvertently highlights the film's message that human beings (represented by villagers who sadistically taunt a mentally-handicapped cripple) can be crueller than the undead. Fine, but layering on greater sadism as the film unfolds would have jolted this Blind Dead movie into classic territory, a missed opportunity to be sure. Say what you will, these Knights Templar films are anchored by their moments, both promised and actualized, of sexual sadism; sequences are purposefully set up to anticipate such nefarious visual wonders, and the shocking pay-offs are what viewers talk most about. On another note, it is nice to see Julia Saly in a bit role here as one of the sacrificial victims. Saly is a staple in many Paul Naschy films (indeed, she co-produced some with him), and is always a striking presence whenever she graces the screen. Hola, chica!

The print viewed is the uncut German print, with English-dubbing, which has some erratic vocal tracking on occasion, but good, bold color overall. There was a Sony video release of this film under the title, NIGHT OF THE DEATH CULT, which repositioned one sequence. As with TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD, a proper presentation of this film, scope dimensions intact and erratic sound eradicated, will give this film a boost and perhaps mandate a new critical evaluation. We can only wait.

Unfortunely, haven't seen any complete sources for this one so far..
Really hope that someone can reshare or at least one FS pops up soon. This flick is a must have for me, on my Top 10 Most Wanted List a.t.m.

I'll move this release to the Dead-Movies Section after a one month from the post date (Feb 12), if there hasn't been any further progress for the file...

To my knowledge , it's(they've) only been released in the " DEADTIME STORIES" 10 in a box movies....
And yes it's cut by a few seconds....big deal - I found part 4 to be dull...

Now part 3 is more interesting - for I am one one of the ridiculed believers of a longer version ; saw it yeaaars ago in the middle of the night on german(of all places) tv.......That one woman was put in a guillotine dammit ! I'm telling you :wacky: I'm always right :wacky: I was right about the zombie biting in the leg was I not ? :wacky:

according to this : http://www.devildead.com/indexdbtop.php ... ilmsID=483 the movie is 90 min (imdb says 89) and even if that's cut, it seems to be the only version available on DVD right now. The German edition is also 90.

Please, someone rip and release this. Nexcorcist rip looks very much like dead. Would really love to see part IV too.

it ripped yet? part 4 mocks me with my incompleted blind dead series. the nexorcist one seems to be at 43% since i clicked it, though i have kept it pause most of the time.

has anybody seen the full source?
