For the new DVD, there's a big flashing red warning light for everyone!

Quote:
f you listen to the commentary track the director and the actor goes "hey wait a minute they changed the score!???"
This is the gayest disco score-YES I said Disco they score is a f-ing disco score.

Quote:
I should have listened to Harry from Ain't It Cool News. He warned fans that the music was differant on the DVD. But I thought he meant the songs. Losing the rights to songs, and putting different songs in their place for home video is nothing new. But it is the entire score that is different. And the new score is mind numbingly horrible. It completely ruins the movie. There is also a voice over narration at the beggining of the film that I don't remember being there in the theatrical or VHS version. And even more strange, is that when you switch over to the French language track, it is still the original score. This makes no sense at all. Warner Bros. really messed up with this one. I hope they re release it with the proper score. In the meantime, since I know Circuit City won't refund mt money, I'm going to see if Warner Bros. will.

Quote:
The people who put out this DVD have totally messed up the soundtrack. It all has to do with noise. First off, there's different music in the movie. Next, there are all these new and odd sound effects that are out of place. Why bother releasing the DVD at all, if they're not going to do it correctly???

I was going to buy it until I spotted this on Amazon.com!

Sweet Jesus :eatthis:

Whats that about :?

So we're still waiting a proper DVD of this one?

Unfortunatly, I'm a sucker for the abnormal, and will probably get this just to see what they've actaully done!

Unless some one rips and releases here

i'll have a go when the new rip finishes downloading. if i can sync it i'll re-post
it in a new thread, any prefrences anyone?

*New video + old audio track
*New video + old audio track + directors commentary track
*New video + old audio track + directors commentary track + New (ruined) audio track
*just old audio track synced up and released as MP3 (mux it yourself)

probobly take another week or so to finish downloading, so i'll know then if its possible.

if they sync, don't bother muxing. You can play additional audio streams with Media Player Classic without doing so and that will save you a hell of a lot of bandwidth sharing the video which is already out there.

Last option is best since you don't even have to mux :)

New video plus old audio would be great. Plus maybe the director's commentary track as seperate? :beerchug:

For anyone who's still waiting for my re-release of this one, it should be done soon, theres only one full source (no one else is downloading it, warner bros take note, you cant even GIVE this version away!) but i'm up to 94.4%. a week or so more an it should be done.

Finshed ROTLD overnight, spent 6 hours trying to sync it up,

First i decompressed the audio into a 44100khz 16bit WAV file and interleaved the old
audio with the new video, they are completely out of sync

then i tried editing the new video down at the start & end to match the old one, then
time warping the audio file in goldwave to match the running time of the new video
file, that synced it up at the beginning, and at the end, but not the middle.

i can sync it up using one higher framerate up to the middle of the file, but lose sync
after that, so i split the last 45 mins into 11 files (linking up with the audio going in
and out of sync as much as possible) and used vdub to change the audio skew &
framerate for each bit, then time warping each of the audio files in goldwave to match
the video without any framerate manipulation or audio skew, but when you put all
the audio files together it comes out of sync here and there, it seems to come out of
sync over a few secs to a few mins, and unless i sync every frame of the whole movie
(which would mean manipultating 100,000s of little audio files, yes its a good film, but
not THAT good!), i doubt it would ever really work.

i also tried premiere, and although it would open the file & let you watch it in the
preview window, it refused to recognise the codec when it was put on the timeline
& just gives a garbled/black screen.

i used to get this problem when caturing from my ATI TV card with my old computer.
When the bitrate got too high it slowed down the CPU and A/V sync was lost,
then when the capturing bitrate lowered back down the CPU would catch up
puting it back in sync rather than just staying out of sync (which i can fix), so it
was impossible to sync up the files afterwards. by the looks of it it could be a HQ VHSrip
which could explain it? also trying to sync up 25fps & a 23.976fps files doesn't help.

anyone else any thoughts? are there any audio/video sync progs that let you pin
an audio track down at given sync points which then stretches & compress the
audio accordingly?

anyway, i can get back to me Evil Dead Lego thing now.

hmmm, whenever I need to sync something I use besweet and its normally perfect ;)

if you've got different framerates, first step is to convert the audios fps in besweet. It should then be a matter of getting the correct delay, and then watching to see if it keeps sync (ie differing scenes, then cutting or splicing in the original sound to make up the runtime.)

ADDITIONAL: ive tried twice more and still cant get it to sync, the only idea i have left is
that there are additional shot(s) (or or stretched out shots to match up with new
audio/sound effects) in the new movie. (IE unless i take out the new shot(s) or add
silence for that duration on the audio track i would never be able to sync them up)

as i said in my last post i can sync up the first 1/2 of the movie perfectly up to
frame 64299, so if anyone spots anything, it would be at some point between
frame 64299 and the end of the film and will be around 1.258 seconds long

i'll have another look at it again at some point.
