I found this in a search in the mule. I know there are a couple of other rips of this in the Screeners and Unverified section but this poses a puzzle. As you can see from the first screen this is supposed to be a restored version. The last sceen is I think from a piece of restored footage as the Q drops off for the whole scene when you watch the film. The puzzle is this,G Spot says a run time of almost 82min,the IMDB says 86min ? Is this the full version or is there a 86 min cut out there. I noticed in the specs for one of the rips is the same runtime ?

Anyway enjoy :beerchug:

Witchinder General you say? :)
*Topic title fixed*

There'll never be a truely uncensored version of this since the BBFC censored the script before filming started :(

ps. you want to fix your specs program, its missing the all important bitrate ;) See the FAQ if you use gknot.

Dr.Phibes: theater movies run at 24 FPS, you've got a PAL rip, which is 25 FPS.

(86 min / 24) * 25 = 82.5 min

So I think this version is missing about 1 minute.

Ok had a closer look at the VP post in Screeners and Unverified and found this from Iconoclast

Witchfinder General : Special Edition
Quote:
Complete Director's Cut
"At the time of it's original release the BBFC decided that certain scenes should be trimmed to comply with the rules on the deciption of violence.

In these more enlightened times we have been able to reinstigate these scenes to recreate the original director's cut.

However, please note that there may be some variation in picture and sound quality due to different mastering sources we have had to use to enable us to assemble this cut."

Runtime; 1h 22min 48sec

Complete Export Cut
"When this film was originally released some alternate versions of certain scenes were created to cater for more lenient foreign markets.

Here, we present the full export version, which includes more explit scenes.

However, please note that there may be some variation in picture and sound quality due to the different mastering sources we have had to use to enable us to assemble this cut."

Runtime; 1h 22min 48sec

So both versions are uncut versions of the movie. The 'export cut' just has more nudity (Like in bar scene the waitress's have bare breasts and in original cut they have their shirts on) =)
Don't know about the runtime of the rips, but these are the real ones.

 cant seem to work out how to use the Quote box

It is a simplified calculation:

Every minute has 60 seconds
86 * 60 = 5160 seconds

Every second of theatrical movie has 24 frames

5160 * 24 =123840 frames

Now we reduce to 25 frames, PAL ALWAYS has 25 frames per second

123840 / 25 = 4953.6 seconds

Now we convert seconds to minutes

4952.6 / 60 = 82.54 seconds

You can ignore the seconds <-> minutes passage and simplify into

(86 min * 24) / 25 = 82.5 min

Every PAL movie runs 4% less than theatrical version.

Yes yes I like it, I already have this movie in this same version, I've replied to help you find an explanation about what cut was it, but you've already found the Iconoclast post which makes things confused again :)
The Gspot Duration = 1:21.36 is correct, so I really think this rip is missing 1 minute, but it's still a good cut.

why multiply by 24 then divide by 25, for a quick guide why not just multiply minutes by .96 to give the same result e.g. 86*.96

Of course, that's an even more simplified (but less self-explainable) way.
I'm so used to my way, it has become a habit.
