The Isle was well worth watching. Although not a horror film in the calssical sense, it certainly contains some scenes painfull to watch.

Kairo, Sweet Home (if only for the Dick Smith FX), Darkness, My Little Eye and Fear of the Dark are the first that jump to mind. All great horror movies I've seen recently.

"I Kina spiser de hunde" aka "in china they eat dogs", danish movie - low budget but very well made, gets more absurd from every minute - laughed my ass off -

"Donnie Darko" - dark and stylish made debutfilm from Richard Kelly
Obvious that the guy likes Lynch and Cronenberg

"Hana Bi" aka "Fireworks" from Takeshi Kitano - more like an artmovie, love or hate it - i LOVE it!

"The Isle" did it for me too - Would categorize this as a horrordrama, and wow what a lovely chick....

thats the stuff i watched the last few days....

I could be wrong but I don't think 'I Kina spiser de hunde' would categorize as a low budget film... not by scandinavian standards anyway... hehe, seen it just about 6 or seven times. avoid the sequel though. it's made like a hollywood cash-in attempt. =(

hehe. seen Donnie Darko about 5 times I think. thought everyone else had too... everyone did see Mememto though?

I think I would have to say Takeshi Kitano is my current favorite director. love all his films, can't wait for a decent rip of Zaitochi.

Mementi and Donnie Darko are superb :)
I watched Haute Tension the other night too, Whilst not incredible, it's fun, gory and suspenseful.

Haven't watched that many newly made movies in the last couple years that I've loved.

Loved; Donnie Darko and The Ring (yeah, I like more the remake than original)
Think'd was pretty damn good; The Others, Darkness

Umm, can't remember more right now.

hehe ok ... actually i liked the original Ring movies better than the remake, though i saw the remake first ... i think that helped me to understand the original better och something :-)

I've had Donnie Darko for atleast 5 months and i havent seen it yet , have to see it tonight ...there's a lot of people here that seems to like it so ....

BTW! "I Kina Spiser De Hunde" Kicks ass !
