I don't trust either company as far as I can throw them. they are both lying scumbags

I had no downtime whatsoever when I switched from BT to Eclipse.

wasn't that migration though? You don't need an engineer for migration anymore, i *think* its all automated now with switching so the bits about the engineer don't happen. Its all eBusiness :)

How about when you first connected to BT, were there any delays then?

Whereas PCA needs an engineer to activate him at his exchange.

When i switched, there was no such thing as migration, just imagine this... two engineers were needed, one to unplug a wire, then some time later another to plug one back in. Count your blessings you didn't switch a year or so back ;)

I had about 5 days downtime when i switched from BT to Eclipse but i had to have my line ceased by BT then someone to put it on again as i had an engineered installed line with BT in the first place and apparently i couldn't just migrate :wacky: but as soon as BT where history everything went smoothly with Eclipse and they switched me on before they actually estimated/quoted they would :D

@spud, yup it was migration and was seamless. When I first connected to BT was an absolute nightmare though. No delays but I had to put up with sub-dial-up speeds for about a month.

wah? Well when i first signed up to bb it was the first in this region... no such thing as migration since bt were the only isp offering broadband at the time... engineer installation only, so i have a proper splitter box which is a bonus.

He came up with a bloody manual though lol Didn't know what he was doing since he said he'd never installed broadband before.

Never had speed problems though, or anything line related... been pretty lucky i guess. No real problems with anyone :)

I just wonder what tony blair meant by "Broadband Britain"... friggin plum.

Ha Ha mofo's, i got me 10meg and my price reduction. Now al I need is 10 meg up and I will be sorted.

On a sidenote, I heard every ISP except mine is imposing a 25Meg a month download limit. Something to do with oil prices in mt front garden fluctuating.

lol, i'm sure bt will try that one tak

PCA should be back tomorrow right, placing all bets...
evens - Bulldog phone up and say they can't be bothered
2-1 - BT miss the date
50-1 - he's activated
100000000-1 - he's happy with the service

Out of interest, how do you know when they actually activate you?

Do they bother emailing or anything?

nope, you can just dial out and you connect.

BTW, i just learnt something about phoning support desks, withhold your number and you might jump the queues. 171 I think you enter before your number. Not tried but if they operate priority business calls then they can't determine who you are and may get you connected right away at the help desk.

I always withhold my number when I fone any business. I gotta say that when I was with Sky I used to enter the option to become a new customer, amazing how fast they answered those calls. :eatthis:

Yep, as spud suspected, Bulldog's date of the 21st was a lie. Despite phoning earlier and being assured I would be activated today - I wasn't

Are Bulldog really an ISP? They seem to be incable of providing an internet service.

The "team supervisor" has promised to keep me informed by mobile as to when I will actually get connected, another lie I'm assuming to stop me cancelling (again). If they do now connect me by wednesday then I'll cancel the whole thing and start again with eclipse.

Oh dear PCA, how are you surviving in the real world with no access to the fountain of all knowledge?

FINALLY

I could have been online on Saturday, but no-one @ Bulldog would believe me that the connection was working

Turns out they'd sent me only half the username so I couldn't get recognised on their DNS servers, fucking idiots.

got some SERIOUS catching up to do now, 20 days of no internet gives you one hell of a backlog!

speed on emule is pretty much 100% of connection speed down, I'm getting 102-107 Kbps

Up I need to experiment with to find the sweet spot, currently on 16kbps.

Solved the problem with my phone too, it needed to be double filtered! Work perfectly now though :beerchug:

Still catching up though, emule downloads are ~200 items! And that doesn't include the mame, GBA and DS roms that I leeched from Usenet!

The router is SIGNIFICANTLY better than my old linksys BEF-SR41 and has been very well behaved so far, it's even got a (totally undocumented) feature to automatically update http://www.dyndns.com with your dynamic IP changes, which is handy for running the emule webserver etc :beerchug: 3 cheers to Belkin!
