NTL Implements Traffic Shaping

so are they actually shaping based on time then or is it still pending?

My isp has dropped all the other packages about from the new MAXDSL which have caps, luckily they don't effect me because i'm on their 2mbit package which is uncapped. I'm already over their cap size on a line that's 6mbit slower :lol:

Back on-topic now, I am gonna seriously keep an eye on this shit now. This merger is gonna be pants, now I gotta get used to a whole new group of people to torment. Gonna take ages to train them up.

I have heard such horror stories about NThelL, and I hope they are just the extreme cases and not the norm. Once they get there claws into SmellyWaste they will prolly cap me straight away LOL

disconnects != traffic shaping.

You just get slower speeds, like if you go on emule, the traffic will just drop and drop and stop at low speeds, but if you immediately open ftp/smtp it will go full speed in that application.

Of course if you have like one file in your p2p then you can't see.

im guesing your saying the disconnects are more likely due to ntls (complete and utter useless) maintenance they said would be done between 00:00 and 06:00 5 days ago.... going wrong as usual

the dl caps for 1 and 2 meg (like me) users have been removed so its all uncapped again now

im running bt with some files in emules closed at mo, it does seem to be getting a lot slower, why is it everytime ntl do anything ti jsut makes things worse

i think it might be a scunthorpe related incident then, as i asked around and it turns out some friends of friends who also live in scunthorpe and are on ntl have been getting d/c the exact same times i have been

trust ntl some maintenance that should take a matter of 4 hours takes 3 days

don't ntl have a status page you can check?
All the isps i've used have had one, some better than others but BT, bulldog and zen all told you if a local exchange was having problems, etc.

yes they do, it jsut sucks as it was last updated 3 days ago, and was brief and non descriptive then, essentially it said "were gonna fuck you up bitch", it seems to have finally settled down now tho, praise the lord who sends plagues upon ntl users
