However, I have a track record of having the most fucked up dreams possible for a long time, so it was most likely lucid dreaming (which is well cool if your bored  ). Here's a tip, you have them all the time, if you want to remember them, put a pen/pencil and paper next to where you sleep and turn off your alarm clock (or gag the wife or whatever wakes you  )... you have to have a full natural sleep (aka. saturday night/sunday morning... I know none of you heathans go to church  ). Go to bed thinking about how your going to wake up and write down your dream. I went ages without remembering anything (there was a big gap between when i could remember some when I was little and then when I could remember years later). A year or two back, I consistantly remembered all of the dreams for months using this method (I didn't have anything that meant I couldn't get a full uninterupted sleep). Some of that shit is well cool, some of it seemed very real, in a dreamy sense.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I wrote a letter once (a couple years ago) describing my dream to my beloved one. And although I don't see her anymore I still have got this letter (a copy) - and I can remember exactly that dream as soon as I read it. On the other hand today I had one of that 'real' dreams, scary as hell for the last few seconds before waking up... and I don't remember it already :) Only that my skin was changing into something...

Heh, dreams can be really strange. Have you guys had a dream in which you know that you're going to die? F$#k, I've had it few times.

Deviated a little, but I think there was at least some method to the madness. Its a shame though really, because if it were all really phsyical, it would make horror movies with ghosts scarey.

yes, I was always wondering about it. All I can do is just remember how it was when I was a kid - I always terrified at night :)
probably that's why I do like watching horror films

Ghosts aren't real...but it wont stop me watching the movies!

BTW..saw an interesting documentary on bbc2 once where a lab was believed to be haunted-staff wouldn't work there at night...etc..etc

It turns out that the fan in the office weas creating a low level humming noise at 9Hz(i'm sure that was it.

9Hz ...apparently this frequency has some strange effects on the brain...including "the feeling of being watched",a slight blurring of vision and a general feeling of unease.Add to that working in a lab on your own late at night......

Instant haunting :-o

Handy for your next halloween party!

A humming? Reminds me of a quote from the guy who ran Project Blue Book for the US gov (aliens, not ghosts, but the idea applies). Basically, he said that everytime there was an easy explanation (sunspots, weather balloon, etc.) they released the news to the press. The ones that they couldn't explain were never mentioned, again. Still, the debunks are great. Clears the table for the other stories, so that they're not lumped in the same category.

Well, my mother and father had some weird experience when I was a kid. My grandfather left me an old pocket watch that should be given to me when I turned 14 years old. That watch disappeared from my grandmother's house after he died (i was something like 2 years old then).
One night in my mom and dad's bedroom a very low clock-sound started ticking and went for the whole night, and my parents had no idea where it was coming from (they only had a digital one), but it was only in their room they could listen to it. In the next day my grandmother calls and says she found the watch.

My parents got really scared and never gave me that watch (I'm 27 now and they still won't give it to me), but when I was 6 my father tried to make it work. 2 or 3 days after that I got some weird pneumonia without any reason.

Also i spoke to my other grandfather in my dreams the morning after he passed away, and I can tell you it was not a regular dream. He was standing up ( he had both legs amputed ) and said some stuff I can't quite remember, but I woke up with the clear impression it was not a dream.

It may sound lame, but it's real, so.... yes, I do believe in ghosts and stuff.

no mate, it really was a fan. They turned it off, it never happened again. They turned it back on and it happened again.

I've seen that documentry (although I thought it was channel 4, not BBC to be honest)

I believe it was a fan, the hum from a fan. That's why what I wrote it relevant. Because we are hearing, from those who wish to debunk, one story of one ghost that wasn't. Just like PBB. If you can prove it fake, publish, if you can't, move on. Its a good philosophy for debunkers and believers alike. Keep the two seperate.

I believe they are. I dunno if everything that everyone says about them is necessarily real, but sure, i think they exist. I've had one or two strange things happen to me but i don't know if id pin it down to a "ghost" or anything like that.

'saw' another one last night, been a while. How do I know it wasn't real, because I could see six foot behind a wall and obviously I can't see through walls

Seriously, it was a guy holding a book ( I think, looked like a book), and I saw it staring at me when I woke up at 3am for a minute or two, spooked me a bit. I suspect I wasn't properally awake and still 'dreaming' as such, and when I opened my eyes (on my side, staring at a wall just in front of me at the side of my bed)...

Just goes to show that in that state you can't trust what you see. Notice all 'credible' sighting are in the same scenario, someone is falling asleep or has just woken. ;)

i really didnt beleive until i saw 2 when driving my car on a back road in my area reknowned for strange things happening i was driving along when i saw two people standing at the side of the road as i got nearer i noticed both had long coats and rifles over there shoulders and fur rinmmed hats, they looked through me like they couldnt see me ,its hard to explain how i knew they were ghost but looking in there eyes freaked me totally and i almost crashed the car ,speaking to my friends dad later i found out that troops were stationed in that area during ww1 and i beleive this is what i saw 2 men in full uniform on sentry duty .but i dont think ghost can interact with us and they are only echoes of the past .

Much as I would liek to think tehy are real, I do not believe they are, at least not in the sense most ppl think of them.

As a true believer in science I have learnt never to rule anything out, but on the other hand too many things can cause the signs that trigger ppl to believe in ghosts. For example, EM fields targeted at the right areas of the brain can cause visions to be seen, I saw a prog that even made ppl believe, using EM fields and the right environments, that they were seeing loved ones who had passed on, aliens, all kind iof shit.

The key to many of these things is the brains desire for everything to make sense. If the brain receives signals it does not understand it will either disregard them or try to order them into something it can understand, and very often it is wrong with it's assumptions.

Anyone ever seen that stupid thing with the dot? You move your eyes until you cannot see the dot, just the white page, this is a prime example of your brain filling in the gaps that everyones natural blind spot in there vision creates.

Hell, when I was a young boy I once thought I saw a Smurf, fucks knows what it was but I believed I saw it.

On the other hand, I do believe that it is possible for someones essence as it were to be left behind and picked up by others. I also believe telepathy is possible, whether it happens is a different matter. The brain has so much more potential than what we currently use, and it can be manipulated in ways we are not usually aware of.

Heheh. Well said Tak!

This is a little story about me, and what happened a few years back, just like what you talked about. Well almost anyway.... =)

Feel free to read it, if you've got nothing better to do.

I saw something like this I think, was it the same documentry to do with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and how it causes intense religious visions when a fit is induced?

Is there one teeny weeny indisputable single incy wincy bit of conclusive proof that ghosts exist in any form? NO. End of.

It's much the same as aliens - any shred of proof? NO. Lot's of exaggeration, speculation, mistakes and fakes - but no proof. Same as psychics, mediums, fortune-tellers, telekinetic powers and on and on and on.

I won't sit on the fence and say 'well maybe because so many people have or seen this, that and the other I may believe, or keep an open mind'. I simply don't, there is no proof for so called 'unexplained' phenomena. Most of it is based on people's fears that go back to religious beliefs of old to keep the peasants in their place.
